And comparing it to rent a girlfriend? like what? it's night and day between the 2 series. They said it got worse after chapter 92. Ch 93 introduces the mother but other than that the tone and pacing is similar before and after. I really don't get the translators rant at all.

Maybe referred to the mother being yet another added obstacle, like the love triangle, to drag out this series before they (finally) fully date?

Not agreeing with the TL and it’s definitely better than Rent, but the manga in first 30-ish chapters was sharp, intelligent and damn good. Now? Feels bit lacklustre and cliche’d, and often enjoy the side stories more than the main… Still reading, but it has lost steam.
