I mean its true in a lot of parts of the world unfortunately, adoption and ivf laws are brutal to gay people. and even then it does take some time to come to terms that it's not how you imagined it.

It is true in lots of countries. I think people forget about how conservative Japan is.... Couples STILL have a hard time adopted and its been almost 10 years ago since a gay couple was able to adopt their child. Western Europe, Canada, and the USA is EXTREME privileged when it comes to the LGBT.

That is why a lot of LGBT Japanese artists draw to tell a story in wanting to entertain or expressing their desires. This happens to be wanting a family and being lesbian.

I'm fully aware of the hardships faced, and I am fully aware of how conservative Japan is. That's not what that caveat emptor of mine was about. Even if it is difficult, gay couples can form families, whether those be officially recognised or not, whether those start in their home country or not. I'm merely asserting that it isn't impossible.
