Bullshit. this guy's future sight is supposed to kick in when there's danger and yet nothing right before being aske if they are dating.

Even if she can't cook, it's wild how much higher level Suika is compared to the other girls.
Really it just goes to show how bad the main girls are.
OTOH she refers to herself in the 3rd person

Suika im third person is annoying as hell. I would recommend TL noting it once and then translating as normal in the future. The way it reads right now is very awkward.
The problem is that Suika refers to herself in the third person, which is how her character is written. So the translation of Suika addressing herself in the third person is technically correct, at least at this point in the story.

Unfortunately I'm the type of person who actually does find that as cute as it is intended to be.
It might bother some people, but I like it.

Alright. Some said I need to keep the third-person translation, and tbh, I prefer it in first person. Maybe I'll try a balance between them in the next chapter.
Err... What's the raw look like? If in the raw, this Suika girl using her name to refer to herself instead of watashi, Boku, or some sort, maybe you should keep it that way in order to reserve it's originality. It's basically like leave the word like onii-chan and senpai alone instead of translating those too.

I am assuming Suika is a 'Boku' girl (talks like a boy)? That's often used for young girls being mistaken for boys, but it's just because she's a tomboy in this case, right? There is no english equivalent to it.
No, she really just refers to herself in the third person. She doesn't use pronouns when referring to herself; she literally just uses her name. This is a common Japanese literary device that is used to convey to the reader that a character is childish.

I took a look, and the raws weren't as heavy with her use of the 3rd person. For example, on page 6 she doesn't use the 3rd person to refer to herself at all in the raws. This works in Japanese but not so much in English, so @Dealka97 had to take (necessary, imo) liberties and use "Suika" where the pronouns would have been in the translation.

Yes, the answer is yes. Hell he could date you too, just ignore the angry lesbian couple.

Exactly, thanks for pointing that out. Indeed, Suika didn't use too much "Suika" in the raw. But Japanese tends to skip pronouns or subjects in conversation, so I had to keep the 3rd person style by adding "Suika" in many dialogues since pronouns and subjects are necessary to complete a sentence in English.

Now I'm considering limiting the use of "Suika" in the next chapter by applying "Suika" only to dialogues in which she really uses her name, and by using "I", "me", and "my" for other dialogues. What do you all think about this consideration?

Looked through the WN, and Suika does seem to use first person and third person. Not exactly sure what makes her address herself in the third person. So it should be ok to do the TL with either format and not have to have her address herself in the third person all the time

I think this is a good compromise. We might lose a bit of Suika's characterization, but at least she won't come off as unnecessarily annoying to readers.

I didn't realize that there was this whole discussion re. the 3rd person Suika here, but as one of the people who complained about it earlier, I'll say that I just find it annoying as a personal preference; I definitely get the whole intent behind it, where author does it to make the character seem childish/cute-- it just doesn't sit well with me when I imagine someone talking like that IRL.

If author does it, then translation should keep it. But limiting it to where it is explicitly written out might be good, because currently she sounds like a pokemon who only keeps repeating their name

I don't hate the "they are terrible at cooking" trope, but I just find it hard to believe that people are that brain dead when it comes to cooking. Especially with anime characters. Like there is no. way. you are THAT BAD at cooking or even simple skills.
i agree with your point but it's hard to cook with fire wood especially for high school kids

The clumsy girl, the tomboy and the Gyaru are cute characters.

Then we have the Yukino expy who many readers have expressed their discomfort because of the "cold black hair girl who appears first wins".
Those readers are still feeling this trauma. (Painful even though I was team Yukino.)
