Something funny about Lilliana joining Dooga in the been dissapointed in Glaive letting rare metal waste away like a decorstion lmao. Depression be damned at heart shes blacksmith so Glaive wasting it just makes her![]()
To be fair, this problem has nothing to do with her being a girl.I get it if she felt insecure about being a woman (given what the hero said), or if she was frustrated by losing everything she had built up, but she should be made of sterner stuff that what's been shown of her so far - given her life up to this point.
Oh sure, but it just seems particularly odd for this MC. She's already made her way to the top, by her own skill, and struggled through her harsh circumstances. So why is she doubting her smithing abilities now? And given those prior experiences, she should be able to handle a setback or two with grace. There are many MCs in manga that are both hyper-competent and saddled with a crippling inferiority complex.
So many it's getting tiresome.
"I'm just an average [insert random job here]."
"I can't possibly measure up to real professionals."
"I'm so useless nobody will welcome me anywhere."
The part you're missing is that, to her knowledge, she didn't "make it to the top".Oh sure, but it just seems particularly odd for this MC. this + your prior comment. I actually liked this series quite a lot until ~ch9/10 came around. You are 100% correct in every regard and most of it also becomes evident around that aforementioned mark.Oh sure, but it just seems particularly odd for this MC. So to me, it really does seem like she's being very melodramatic over being called a 'dirty woman who smells of iron' by the hero.
She should be tough as iron.
Though you're totally right about the overdone overly humble MC. I swear, japan has a strong aversion to actually seeing characters become skilled and grow - they're either gifted from the onset, or given all their abilities from some dues ex machina, no growth or hard work required.
I've heard it's because of Japan's work culture, and that people don't want to see others actually working hard, and one something light, but I'm not sure, because most of these characters are 'working', they're just not growing.![]()
I'll disagree with you here, because SHE WORKED IN THE CASTLE FOR THE ROYAL FAMILY, I don't think they could reasonably write her in a way to misunderstand that as being a highly regarded position. Add to this that she was in charge of the holy sword, likely the kingdom's prized possession - used by the hero of the kingdom...The part you're missing is that, to her knowledge, she didn't "make it to the top".
This is somewhat possible, but we were shown her working under the tutelage of other blacksmiths, so surely she must have some idea of others' abilities and her standing against them?they lack a proper reference to other professionals of the same field so they can't evaluate their own work objectively.
Ah, I do agree.I don't disagree that your interpretation of what's going on with the MC may be correct, but if it is true, it's kinda dumb - as well as cliche, as you pointed out earlier.
They've written a character who SHOULD be confident, who SHOULD be proud, who SHOULD get back on her feet by herself, instead we have a weepy maiden who needs her knight in shining armour to save her... who just happens to be a world class blacksmith at a young age, despite being a ignored orphan, through sheer grit and hard work... lol.![]()
Muscles....personally would like her to have more muscles, but i guess being worn out at the start doesnt do well for fitness.
maybe adding a blacksmith apron to her outfit at some point could be nice too.
otherwise she might get some burnholes...
concept-wise: yes, more women with rough hands and crafting skills please.
Let's ask Mr. Owl...Guess they get to test the blade's sharpness on a Dragon. How many cuts will it take? One? Five? Place your bets!![]()
Not only that, but as a former noble she should know that working in the royal castle is NO SMALL FEAT! Like this character is a walking contradiction.I'll disagree with you here, because SHE WORKED IN THE CASTLE FOR THE ROYAL FAMILY, I don't think they could reasonably write her in a way to misunderstand that as being a highly regarded position. Well, I just can't accept that she couldn't possibly have any idea of her abilities and her position because of them.
Keep in mind she wasn't some sheltered flower - she earned that position through her work.
