i think it's a continuation of a previous story? Surprised they didn't do it in a row rather than switching artists or so unless the author needed more time to do a second partAlright, someone is gonna have to explain this one.
It's the 2nd half of the story from Chapter 5.Alright, someone is gonna have to explain this one.

That's just a stop button at the bus that says "stop." Sorry, should've translated that lolIt's the 2nd half of the story from Chapter 5.
My best guess at what's going on:
Part 1: A younger Hayakawa (MC), her friend Mina, and Mina's younger sister Shizu visit a creepy house. They find the cursed dresser, and Shizu takes a note from the 3rd drawer (but doesn't notice what's in it). Mina goes to return the note to the 3rd drawer, looks inside it, gets cursed and turns into a hair eating ghoul. They take Mina home, where her mom is furious at Hayakawa for letting this happen to Mina.
Part 2: A flashback to part 1 shows Mina's mom threatening to curse Hayakawa (MC) for having gone into the forbidden house with Mina, resulting in Mina turning into a hair eating ghoul.
In the present, Hayakawa visits an old lady in her hometown who sent a picture of the cursed dresser to MC's magazine. Old lady tells the story of the dresser - ending with the husband of the family in the story having gotten cursed to become a hair eating ghoul. Old lady's granddaughter returns home, ending the interview. We find out the granddaughter's name is Shizu, and Shizu's older sister was recently killed in a murder-suicide by her mother. Hayakawa doesn't notice, but this reveals the old lady to be Mina and Shizu's grandmother.
A flashback confirms that the aforementioned older sister and mother are Mina (now older and bald from eating her hair) and her mom, who, desperate for revenge on Hayakawa for getting to lead a normal life, have stolen the cursed dresser with the grandmother (old lady's) help.
Hayakawa returns to her parent's house to discover Mina's mom has sent a large package to Hayakawa's mom. It's the cursed dresser. Hayakawa's mom starts making chomping sounds, implying she looked in the drawer is is now cursed (to become a hair eating ghoul). The third drawer is revealed to hold the chopped off hands of the mother and daughter from the old lady's story.
Someone help me out though, I'm not even sure I got this right, lol. Certainly an odd story. I'd be curious too if there's a clue about the old lady's identity on page 5, on the doorbell.
Totally awesome! The folks on the MD forums always deliver in the most surprising ways - hats off to yous!
This is where I originally heard of the story if you wanted more background. In terms of this specific manga though, I think the post above is pretty much on point. Although I don't know see how the MC didn't notice that the granddaughter was Mina's younger sister while leaving. I'm assuming none of them talk anymore, even though Mina's sister is just as much, if not more at fault, not to mention all the other friends that were involved but didn't seem to be targeted by Mina's mom.
Thanks for the update (and the extra page at the end?). That totally makes more sense, I thought the narration on that page and the next was jumping back and forth more than it wasThat's just a stop button at the bus that says "stop." Sorry, should've translated that lol
Pretty much spot on interpretation. It's the 2nd half of the story from Chapter 5.

Oh yeah. I feel like that was the basis of every other story arc in the Professor Munakata series, and it's not even a horror mangapersonally I find it helpful in horror to just remember 'inscrutable and over complicated rural folk religion where they TOTALLY mutilate people' is one of the universal seeming horror urban legends
The difference between 'urban horror story' and 'dubious feeling anthropology adventure story' is kinda thin now I come to think of it. All love to Prof. Munakata even if i feel like i need to double-research any claims about the jomon people in there.Oh yeah.
