So he's fulfilling the nightmare fairy's dream?
I'm guessing since she primarily just reflects people's dreams within her house-shaped-body, she's probably wanting an identity of her own and his actions are giving her some bits and pieces to which she can create an identity beyond just the dream mirror/cage that she is.
Page 30, Also he absolutely deserve to get hit. I went back to read the first chapter and absolutely, he just accepted getting kicked out and didn't even attempt to get a hold of the rest of the party to advise them ahead of time, despite being Extremely Aware of his automatic buff/debuff skill, which he also simultaneously Constant Attempts to act in Willfull Ignorance of how his skill works despite constantly showing he is Fully Aware of how it functions.
He did objectively straight up abandon all his comrades by just passively accepting his dismissal without any actual care or thoughtfulness towards his other companions, which solely serves as some setup for which the old harem desperately searches for him as he accumulates a new harem because the trope demands it, which does ultimately showcase him as an unreliable companion in reality when push comes to shove and who just bows to authority, a very Japanese herbivore salaryman mentality and attitude, which is unsurprising considering how these tropes come into being for the whole power fantasy tropes and revenge fantasy tropes of oh I was the useful one you threw out and even though the entire company/team is innocent except for the higher ups everyone has to suffer and come begging at my feet fantasy.
At the very least the MC should take responsibility for his actions and properly clean things up, and by clean things up I also mean properly making sure that Ares gets wrecked and he doesn't go the most pathetic way and tries to forgive him despite how the "Hero" has clear predatory and criminal desires. If anything, I half expect the MC to not properly punish the Hero only for the Hero to manage to worm away only to create more problems, because he doesn't seem to be a particularly intelligent protagonist so I don't expect him to know how to nip a problem in the bud and only wait until it blows up into the worst way until he finally takes action.
