I actually liked the way they ended it, not rushing any plotpoints, and instead just fast-forwarding to the future chunk-wise as a sort of conjoined epilogues. But I guess the only real reason that worked here, was because there was pretty much no dangling plotlines from the fact that this was a pure SoL manga. No intrigues, foreshadowings, mysteries or conflicts to resolve, etc.

So didn't really feel axed, besides how sudden the last chapter came.
