I'm not a fan of listening on headphones (partly the way the soundstage presents, mostly the way surface noise on vinyl presents), but if I went that route I'd think seriously about having my tech build me a low wattage all-tube power amp with a selection of taps to cover the range of impedances. Transformers to do that would be about a bazillion dollars, I'm afraid.

I'll always use headphones because that's what I'm use to and I can't really have speakers blasting at work. The only thing that sucks about it is when the evil four legged fur balls decide they love the texture of the cable between their teeth and chomp it in half (they aren't allowed in my room anymore). The last straw was when I saw the one running out of my room with my AKG IEMs in his mouth.

For Some reason unbeknownst to Me , the Water bucket in My rꝏm transforms into a Colder state of being relative to It’s Previous measurements even though the air is Pretty stale & METAR reads 29/09.

I assure you can get some decent soundstage out of your humble earbuds, but not any el cheapo ones. Okay I'm lying, but the humble yincrow x6 ($7) has plenty to give and it's easy to drive. There's other budget and not so budget options that offer that. Of course, it doesn't compare to a reverberating room but it's good enough.
I drive my stuff with a cheap 4.4 dongle from venture electronics, might get a 3.5 one. It's a solved science and frankly it isn't worth it to get an expensive one unless you're getting into R2R territory.
Nowadays I just use my phone, or my hibyr3saber dap thoughbeit, it's plenty for my use. I also had a shanling m0 but the battery blew up or something after a few years. Well not really, but it does over heat. I might open it up soon to check the internals.
