so no reason to worry about the guy who has seemingly never talked to any noble in the empire at all outside of probably one of his bosses.
Not too sure that's a problem...
Thing is, the Empire is a, quite exaggerated, Meritocracy, where power and ability is pretty much everything.
At least the civil service is.
And the devil is in the details.. MC is now a territory-holding Noble, but his noble rank was not specified, which gives the impression even nobility is subject to that meritocracy.
He already holds the highest possible military/civil service rank,
without being "nobility". Something you wouldn't have in ordinary feudal societies.
From what I can figure out he already was equivalent to a marquis/margrave, and now simply got the territory to go with it, instead of just the court rank.
And anyways... It's an Imperial Edict, with specific orders to maintain the Imperial Grave. The rest of the territory is mostly windowdressing, was already "Vacant", and who in his right mind is going to go against this particular wish of the Emperor?
It's ded funny MC is ordered to Pick A Wife. Within a year... Poor Boy has to Choose....

Besides hinting that the way MC gets his territory now is actually the
norm in the Empire. Seems more people have been faced with this ...particular challenge... It's just that they sorted that particular matter
before being awarded a territory.
