I think it's mostly satirical. Female mangaka tend to criticise sexist mentality way more than than their male colleagues, even though in a more subtle way, while giving the reader what they would like to read, of course.
RE: the TL note at the end, I'm thinking MCs focus on virginity is the author poking at people who take the concept too seriously. Maruono is literally throwing herself at him but he's too caught up in his preconceptions to think about what's actually happening.
