Katakana and English words just don't mix. They make every word sound like something an 8 year old trying to be a 12 year old would say. This gets turned up to 11 with names. Way too many vowels. I think vowels multiply cringe because that's just that much longer you pronounce a word and that much harder that its sounds are stressed. I say go with whatever. It ultimately doesn't matter. If I think in terms of this being a game world that was already for kids and just gave the bad guy a cringe "cool" name, then it works regardless.

Yeah, that's just Absolute written in Katakana. You could write it as "Abusoryuto" or "Absoryuto," but they're both just "Absolute" at the end of the day, Japanese just doesn't distinguish between l and r. Him having a funny name is simply part of the manga.

As for arc vs ark, ark is a ship, arc is a curve. He is probably "Absolute Arc," but I think there wouldn't be a problem with either so long as it's consistent. Japanese doesn't have a c vs k distinction so we could only tell by context, if such a thing is present.

If they use German it hurts even more. Frieren was ok/tastefull (except a few minor spelling mistakes), in other stories it doesnt even makes sense and is generally written wrong too.

And i tell you the author didn't think for a moment about all this, The guy is the fiancé of a noble lady and is the Hero so he does have the stand to at least talk to them, it is one of the most important standings in their society.

Man his whole character is the 'dumb hero that is immature and stubborn all of a sudden when the protagonists reincarnates in the story because we need a reason to make the protagonist better than the hero' that is being used like hell in stories like this one.
And i bet if it was the protagonist holding a girl trying to speak with them because he thinks she is being mistreated (like Alto thinks) nobody would give a fuck.

Again he would not be right if he did touch her, but it's way blown out of proportion just to say 'hero bad, mc good'. With time you too will get feed up with this old tendency and see this as nothing but immature writing.

The all word play is that the family name "Ark" sounds like evil in Japanese "Aku", and with his innate trait to inspire hate as a price of his great talent, the MC is truly "the absolute evil" of that story and of the Ark (evil) family.

You know, I just came to realize something, and only because of your new translations for his name.

I think I finally got the reason why his name IS Absolute...

His family name "Arc" is originally the Katakana AAKU, which is similar to the reading of the Kanji "AKU" (Evil).

For westerners who don´t know Japanese, if you know of the enemy from Samurai Jack, or maybe the Street Fighter character Akuma (Gouki in Japan, but Akuma is a japanese word for "demon" too).

In short, just like he constantly talks that he is Evil. In Japanese, "AKU", he reinforces that...

So his family name should be "Evil" to make sense of the pun

To be honest, not calling him Absolute pulls me out of the story every time I see it. There is a theme to the naming, to make things seem more exotic to Japanese readers, you see it with the other characters too like Cruel. The only reason the Japanese text sounds like that weird name your using, is because Absolute is such a difficult word to write in Japanese.

Generally, for translators, you can tell the translator's doing a good job when the readers forget that there even is one.
