I don't think this specific case in this story counts for this type of example, cause the protag's many near death events are way too in the realm of slap stick comedy to be taken seriously.

You're right for a lot of stories, but romances are a little different. By putting yourself in the protagonist shoes you can live his romance by proxy, and that's why these kinds of protagonist are EVERYWHERE only in romances.

At least, that's what seems like the point to me, I also don't understand that actually.

I really liked that, but it doesn't seem the author has been trying to make those in a LONG while.
I could say the last one was with the mother and the axe, chapter 31, 6 chapters ago, but it wasn't like the ones the author started with, before then we already saw a similar joke with Momo and the knife all the way back in chapter 24.

Mangadex is giving it almost a 9 rating but my best guess is that the bulk of it was from the time both were more assertive. This dumbfuckery should lower it over time.

Give it time and, unless it gets the axe, we will get the misunderstood confession too.
