Alright, slight ramble time. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED HERE!?
Like, the art has always been suggestive, but it feels like the mangaka took a SHIT TON OF ACID, then proceeded to draw what the VOICES TOLD HIM TOO. There was a story here. One about generational trauma, the responsibility of power, parental neglect, and the desire to be loved because of how the world has treated you.
But then, OUT OF THE BLUE, the mangaka pulled an EVEN WORSE HORIMIYA. I had a lot of problems with Horimiya's middle for a lot of the same reasons I had with this. A bunch of filler made to pad out a lengthy run. But you know something, I would GLADLY read all of the middle section of Horimiya again because it was still good storytelling. Horrid pacing? Yeah. But it was still better than this piece of crack in a manga form. While this isn't the worst thing I've read (you KNOW who
YOU are), I do feel like I wasted my time.
If you enjoyed this, more power to you. I just feel frustrated cause I signed up for a different story than what we got in the end. Had it been this from the offset, I probably wouldn't have read it or, if I did, I would have probably seen it through a different lens. The story I signed up for was one that was taking itself SOMEWHAT seriously, and this dropped the ball for me.
Anyways, have a good day/afternoon/evening.
