As Gilbert Harman conceived and many sci-fi series have used(the Matrix most prominently),it's entirely possible that what we perceive as real is simply a computer generating inputs for our brains.
It's also entirely possible that everysingle human who does exist is simply a brain in a vat that is either separately filled with fake reality or collectively filled with a fake reality.
Considering it's also on the same level as trying to proove or disproove God,it's reached the ultimate consensus :
It doesn't matter.
Reality is what we accept it to be,it may have been a fake created by a higher being,or even an alien species that uses us to produce warmth,but it's the world we live in,even if our brains are immortal and reset,it's the place we have to make the most of.
And should the one who governs us decides we are worthy to finally learn the truth,then we can finally ascend...
