Assuming Mase-chan doesn't adjust her behavior, Little Hikoichi should consider moving on from her, as she appears to be quite manipulative and is the kind of tsundere who isn't going to be pleasant to be around. If he were to mature and cast her aside, it would be interesting to see if she changes for the better or emotionally unravels, especially if another girl enters the picture to heighten the drama.

Hikoichi and Nayu may want to take note of things NOT to do, so they can steer clear of these kinds of toxic behavior patterns.

Ok guys, I have a theory.
You notice how Hikoichi said this in page 3?

Another character from a manga has already said the same

So... does that mean that Hikoichi was Chiyo-chichi all this time?
And it doesnt stop here.
There's another person who's tan AND orange the same time.
That's right, Donald Trump was Hikoichi all this time.

That was the best chapter in a while for me – which is saying a lot, by the way, since this manga is so consistently amazing. This chapter had so many great twists and turnarounds; every time I thought it reached peak, the manga went peaker. How does Masuda-sensei do this?!

Mase-chan and Okute-chan are just... I don't even know anymore. They are like characters straight out of a soap opera, except they're in elementary school...?? Anyways, they're ridiculously entertaining. Mase-chan acts mature, but is mostly very wholesome; Okute-chan is the polar opposite. Little Hikoichi has a tough love life ahead of him for sure...

Maybe that's why this chapter was so fun: it's just ridiculous. "He was a good kid back in kindergarten, but then he fell in with a bad crowd of upperclassmen in elementary school" is ridiculous. We also almost witnesses an infidelity plot with elementary schoolers; that's ridiculous as well. Then, we see Little Hikoichi speaking and acting like a true man. That's absolutely ridiculous. This juxtaposition is just so stupidly funny to me.

Praise for the chapter aside: I honestly don't think Mase-chan deserves Little Hikoichi. She's consistently emotionally manipulative; even when she's not, she tries to maintain an unequal power dynamic. Not to mention how Little Hikoichi is the one putting in all the work for this relationship. Everything I just typed was about elementary schoolers... Why is it so spicy lol
The elementary school kids are more mature and their relationships are going faster than the main couple.
That's the point, that's the whole joke, it's just so well put together that it lands well.
It's basically the universe and the author throwing shade at the main couple for being a nervous awkward mess.

Wouldn't really call her mature at the end there, rather she's being very immature. Like the tsundere thing is fine casually, but after a huge event like that, it's just annoying and off-putting. You were so worried about your future with him and when he shows just how dedicated he is to you, you decide to play hard to get and act like you're not interested? "I'm not your girlfriend. I lost a chance at hanging out with some other boys thanks to you." Like there's a time and place for this kinda thing, right now is not it, he poured his heart out for you and made it clear how he feels, you at least owe him a simple aknowledgement of whether you feel the same way or not instead of leading him on.

You'd think after that big scare and all that brooding, she would have learned something about the fragility of love and had some kind of drive to make her feelings clear, especially when he did the exact same. "Thanks to you, those guys hitting on us left." Likewise, thanks to you leading him on and giving him hope, he may miss chances with other girls that are interested in him. Just give a straight answer, are you interested or not? Right now, she's just using his feelings to treat him like a gopher, after making it clear she would hate for him to stop looking at her.

I know it's just for comedy but those elementary school girls are as bitter as women in their 30s that played around for their 20s and now the men they used to date but never tried to settle down with don't want them anymore and that juxtaposition just takes me out of it a bit.
That's oddly specific 🤨

I can't with these elementary kids.
They don't add to anything. At best its a Very unnecessary detour in our MCs interactions that just takes us back to the start of the chapter.
