I am a bit sad the online friend didn't just turn out to be a handsome dude. Or maybe like a handsome girl, like a prince character? That would have been a way funnier twist in my opinion.

Okay, Oura is plenty interesting enough, but the concept of a gamer chick has potential. Especially if she decides to crossdress to maintain the lie of her being a guy, even if the manga is unlikely to commit to this scenario

The pace in the early chapters is wacky, and I'm not sure if it's due to the translation or what, but the dialogue was hard to follow. So, yeah, he was being a hikikomori seems to come out of nowhere, although I know he was always socially awkward.

The difference really exist in the eye of the publisher and editor department, what they think could sell under that "Brand/Magazine" for their readers, is just that, because they have some type of target in mind they promote more works around that idea which make more titles with similar plot progressions and tropes prominent in their lineup
