This start seems fine enough, but it's lacking anything that gets me particularly exicted, and feels a little generic. Hopefully the next few chapters can do more to differentiate it.

Thank you for the TL!

I think it's fine. The first one is meant to be an awkward high schooler saying something incredibly cringe while fumbling for what to say so it works well in character. The other two I can't think of better ways of saying off the top of my head. Saying "if only everyone else was half as kind as you" would work probably but it's not a significant improvement. I don't think that this is nearly as bad as your comment makes it out to be.

I really don't know why some people can't comprehend this. Japanese teenagers also use slang, and if they translated all of that slang completely literally, it wouldn't read as slang to english speakers, so substituting english slang better captures the author's intent. It's really not complicated.
Of course I know the real reason you're mad is cause you think those lines sound "woke" or whatever, but even the fake reason you're pretending to be mad about is super dumb too.

"I really don't get why you're doing this. Japanese just happens to sound like this."
"of course I know why you're doing this. It's because you're mad at my political views."

Bring up politics, or act like you don't know what I'm talking about. Don't do both in the same post.

 Because what you're doing is too obvious.

My sensitivity to certain linguistic styles that break immersion is a point in my favor. You need neurotic, sensitive neurodivergents like me to give constructive suggestions to the fan translators. Toxic Positivity only leads to things like MTL's, skyrim memes, author opinions as TL notes.
My voice might be the only one, but I have confidence I did the right thing by speaking truth to power (asking comic book pirating communities to not vandalize the original work excessively).

In the first paragraph I was both talking about people who make that argument in general, and also asking a rhetorical question. I do in fact know why.
In the second paragraph I'm talking about you specifically, and how you are very obviously not arguing in good faith. You are making zero effort to hide your odious beliefs and they are obviously your actual motivation for complaining about this translation. Like, i do have eyes and wasn't born yesterday. Come on.
And you also apparently don't know how to read lol. Maybe learn to comprehend english writing yourself before complaining about 日本語 to english translations. You absolute tool.

Nice first chapter. I got instantly invested on Yukari. I wonder if Shouko will act like a tsundere after they start to get closer.

Thanks for the chapter

"Spill the tea, sis?"
Original text is 話きこか, a colloquial shortening of 話聞こうか, which translates roughly to "shall I hear your talk?" The shortening is an awkward attempt to sound casual, for which it's difficult to find a direct English equivalent without using tone, so the somewhat out-of-place English colloquialism is a good stand-in.

"I wasn't trying to invalidate"
Original text is 別に否定したいとかじゃなくて, translating roughly to "It's not like I'm trying to negate (your feelings/what you're saying)-" This one is pretty 1-1 imo

Also keep in mind the first two quotes are coming from an anti-social bookworm character, so it's not out of the question for her to talk in a way you might find unnatural.

"...everyone else have half the empathy you do...?"
Original text is みんながみんなあんたくらい人の機微分かれば。。。 "If everyone understood human subtleties as much as you..." This is awkward to translate directly to English, but equating "Understanding human subtleties" with having empathy (understanding other people's feelings) passes well enough for smoothly conveying the thought in English.

I was actually taken while reading this at how smooth the tl is for a scanlation, so I found your complaints especially strange. Given the stark syntactical differences between Japanese and English, it can be very difficult to translate it in a way that is natural-sounding yet retains as much of the meaning of the original text as possible. Unfortunately, if you want both of those qualities perfectly intact, the only course is to learn Japanese and read the raws.

Since it's in the cover at and shows up in the first chapter, I have great expectations from the artist to take full advantage of her angy face. Looking forward to it.
