I'm also not sure. When she wanted to stay behind because she was "tired", I was thinking that she's absolutely doing it so she can go visit Saotome. I'm also certain her shower isn't busted. But with what she said to Saotome... maybe she really is on her period, but she's also using it as an excuse to visit Saotome.
