The first birthday messages made me so emo wtf ;__;; StM is usually pretty lighthearted so hearing all the characters open up in this intimate and kinda secret way ripped my heart into tiny pieces, in a good way... Big fan of how Hirano's looks like he ran out of space while fawning over Kagi lol. (The way his second birthday card is like that too........ he needs to get a hobby I think)
Also the first couple pages of this dump ouuughh cute.... Hanzawa please know you are so loved

All the old drawings and stuff are so cute and feel nostalgic even though I definitely wasn't here back then yet... I kinda miss the artstyle from the early volumes, everyone looked really soft and adorable ;v;

Seen them on twt before but everyone looks soooo good in the bday outfits, especially Niibashi omg. I hope we get to see his post-graduation outfits eventually cuz I bet they would pop off.

Afaik all we've learned about his past is the thing about his brothers being gay and the pressure/worry he feels because of that. No idea if he's writing about that or something else, maybe we'll find out in Hirano to Kagiura soon?
I'd imagine there's some bigger reason behind him being such a hater towards anyone seemingly gay at school than just his bros being who they are, idk though..

It's not so much that it happened to him, as it happened around him.
His brothers came out, his mom was relieved when he wasn't gay, and then his brothers had rocky relationships that had fights he found scary.

His homophobia is cured over time due to seeing more stable homosexual/romantic relationships. Cool arc, but it still sucks how he was then.

(HiraKagi can be kinda volatile, but not toxic I'd say. It's gonna be an uphill battle at times for them.)

Hirano's being ace puts some "no"s out there, and "no" always trumps "yes". Though at least there's a clear line of "None of that".
Kagi-kun can file all impulses related to physical contact under "no", "wait" or "ask".

My ex was grey and it was very unpredictable and I am so far away from ace... We often had conversations about how we were feeling and when and how and why. We learned a lot about ace/allo people respectively.
Not why we broke up (she's just the worst), but it was a source of tension at times.

Oh yeah, I forgot that that actually happened to his brothers rather than him just being worried it might happen. Then that could very well be what he's referencing to in his message. The phrasing just made it sound like he experienced something bad firsthand, although who knows whether there's still more to his story or not.
