Basically what Moon said. You were not wrong, cuz you can see in this same chapter that kids that accidentally touch the stones get mana depleted. But there seems to be a trick to filling one, maybe it sucks too fast and if you're not good at managing your own mana it also dries you entirely
Most people also don't have the mana to fill a stone, unlike the nobility/royalty of the Kingdom Kingdom.

Btw, consuming caffeine when tired just leaves you still tired, because of how it works (it's an agonist for a receptor that a chemical that causes drowsiness as part of sleep regulation, called adenosine, is for, but it doesn't replace it preferentially; it only bonds to the receptors if there isn't adenosine already present). This is also why you aren't supposed to drink coffee within two hours of waking up, so that your system can flush the adenosine out and leave you at full wakefulness!
That's news to me, time to experiment how much monster I should drink to stay energized for a whole week.

Yeah thats what I was thinking too. Even if prince cant control his magic yet, having him hold a small magic stone can automatically suck out excess magic without sucking him dry.

Since Nico can't see/feel his mana (as shown by him getting upset he's feeling bad but doesn't know why) I think he and anyone who doesn't know how to control mana wouldn't be able to tell if they are running out or not, so the magic stone would just keep absorbing their whole mana pool.
Nico didn't seem to understand that Lia was absorbing his mana, he just noticed she was getting warmer.
Of course, but in this instance, Lia could have been the one to see the mana for Nico. She could have waited for her dad to get magic stones, for Nico to touch them, and then have him stop when it looks like he's fine again. I did not expect that she would try to directly extract Nico's mana surplus - she got impatient about helping Nico.

Nico is also a special case; I mean, when Lia got rid of the mana she extracted, it took two decently sized small stones. Also, if I interpret page 15 correctly, he is far from being drained and still has a large reserve of mana.

The main thing for me though is page 8 - Nico might not know how to control his mana, but he definitely can tell when the bad feeling from having too much mana is gone, so if he pays attention to that feeling he should know when to let go (and he does not need to be too precise because it literally takes several stones to remove his surplus mana; I expect he could easily fill a third stone and be nowhere near collapsing).

I understand that all these elements are things that Lia only learned after extracting Nico's mana and outputting it in stones, but having people input mana in magic stones and then slapping them when they're about to run out is something she's done before in the frontier.
But there seems to be a trick to filling one, maybe it sucks too fast and if you're not good at managing your own mana it also dries you entirely
Yeah, something like that would definitely explain it, but I'm not sure she would know about this. Maybe somethig like that was mentionned previously and I forgot?

Also, Lia keeps doing things that she hasn't really done before (like taking in someone else's mana) and not putting any thoughts as to whether there might be any dangers to it.

The best time to drink caffeine is when you're at full wakefulness and fully energized- good sleep, relaxed, no stress. Then, maintain that caffeine level throughout the day. Monsters get pretty expensive that way, so you might want to make your own tea or coffee at home instead, and then bring a thermos with you (can even chill it and have some cold coffee/tea in a bottle/thermos). Would be cheaper, and also not flood your system with massively excess amounts of taurine and guarine (not to be avoided totally, just not in the amounts in energy drinks).

Lia did what she did because she needed to show it working, to prove what she was saying/thinking is correct, because people still default to treating her like she's just a 2 year old that doesn't know many things.

And that's what calling her dad was for; he's well aware of all Lia has achieved with mana and he would also see Nico's magic so I don't think it makes sense to argue that he wouldn't hear her out regarding what she thought Nico's issue was.

The way I see it, Lia is impatient and reckless.

Her father would never have let her do it in the first place, even as a mild experiment. She only drew off a small portion of his mana (by comparison); she wasn't in danger herself, just mildly put out until she could drain it off, because she couldn't do so without showing off her secret barrier ability otherwise, in front of all the servants. Those people, along with the Prince himself, were the people that she was working to convince. Her father telling them she's brilliant doesn't really help her position.

Wwhaat. . . Lia's family is known to be able to see mana, yet the root of royal magic trouble just got discovered today? This doesn't make sense :notlikethis: .

Though my quality isn't as good as some prominent teams, I hope you enjoyed my barely competent quality🙇‍♂️
