I'm intrigued by page 8/42, where she's looking up at the demon body and they redirect her gaze back to the puppet human body.

Like is that purely because she'll look like a weirdo if she's not talking at the puppet? Or is it more like, "My eyes are down here, don't look at my demon body doing the puppeteering, that's rude."

I think it's about convenience in art more than anything. There's no further acknowledgement of the demon behind Satou for the rest of the chapter - I think Shiba is trying to say to us as readers "yes, remember this from volume 1, now that's dealt with Kiku and Satou can have a conversation in human form with each other".

I mean, pretty much everything Kiku does is a bit off regardless of who she's talking to...
