No slap?

I was really hung up on this detail too, so I dug through Japanese forums to look for an explanation, and the two most common theories I found were:
- Kabasawa just imagined Rena slapping him, to make himself look like the victim in that situation.
- Rena did slap Kabasawa, but the manga didn’t show it explicitly to avoid putting Rena in a bad light.
Either way, it
is pretty strange that they didn’t follow the original source for this one detail, when almost everything else was kept intact.
