I don't think they actually slept together, although the cuts back and forth were ambiguous. It read to me more like she managed to get him to start spilling the beans on Dobu everytime he attempted to start something. I could be wrong though.

I was really hung up on this detail too, so I dug through Japanese forums to look for an explanation, and the two most common theories I found were:

1. Kabasawa just imagined Rena slapping him, to make himself look like the victim in that situation.
2. Rena did slap Kabasawa, but the manga didn’t show it explicitly to avoid putting Rena in a bad light.

Either way, it is pretty strange that they didn’t follow the original source for this one detail, when almost everything else was kept intact.
