This girl literally just spawned into existence, even the real characters say shes a shitmob

Even back in shield hero's web novel, the three idiot heroes did get to reflect on their mistakes after everything went to shit for them. And the Book Hero from another world is supposed to be the villain AND is fully aware of what he's doing.

But Katsuya has so little capacity for introspection that on the rare ocations where he does reflect he ends up in the exact same place. And because of

he ends up literally rewarded for nothing but his ego

People hated the shit out of those characters when they first showed up (I remember the meltdown when the manga got to the first duel between Naofumi and Motoyasu). If they are more chill with them now, it's because they either went through redemption or got their comeuppance.

In comparison, at this point in the story Katsuya is still a cocky fuck who hasn't really eaten as much shit as he deserves. Plus, he gets a LOT of screentime. Like, every couple chapters we get taken hostage and forced to watch this dude be a clown who makes very obvious mistakes and gets very blatantly manipulated.

And him being a kid doesn't really change much when there are plenty of other characters around his age in this story and few of them are as annoying as he is.

I don't particularly hate Katsuya. If anything I pity him. He doesn't know he is basically possessed by an AI that influences the thoughts of those around him. He has all of these people surrounding him who idolize or "love" him but on a deep level he doesn't know why they do. And it shows, he is desperate to be "worthy" of this unearned reverence, to be the "hero" everyone around him is conditioned to treat him as.

I imagine a lot of his issues with Akira revolve around those same insecurities. Akira doesn't question his own strength or his own "worth". Katsuya is basically looking in a funhouse mirror at the "hero" he so desperately wants to be.

Katsuya is basically taking a look at a typical protagonist and showing the problems that'd really arise for them in that situation. Overpowered and surrounded by harem, it's setting you up for pain. And of course a typical protagonist would have issues with someone like Akira, who kills easily amongst other differences.

yeah and the hate towards spear hero wasn't that big because he was a Re****, and how he died in his own world, made the reader realize he was more pitiful than other things.
B!tch on the other hand, she was hated all across the different websites, maybe you don't see that much, because the shield bro hype has been going down with the years, specially with the tortoise arc that branched from the WN (glasses was a villain, a boring one though), also the sites were it was more popular to sh!t on her have dissappeared (batoto or kissmanga for example).

well, if you talking about the hate. he's sure the target here.

those who you mentioned above is from other series. they sure get the hate as well if you dive into their fandom, heck they're being mocked as clowns. (spear hero hate got toned down after he got his own spinoff. the pig and others got the hate until they aren't relevant anymore to the story).

so this Katsudon boy just get the same treatment until he isn't relevant anymore
