You underestimate how fun teasing people is. One of my friends does it all the time. She's ace so it's not a sexual or romantic thing. She just likes bothering people. Atori reminds me of her lol

Atori’s just into a peculiar kind of netorase where she enjoys watching Yuu’s jealousy like watching a kid who’s so happy to get a toy but then have to watch it being given to her sister. Enjoying how it confirms “ah, this girl loves me a lot, so cute”.
Suzu is a safe accomplice because she won’t fall for Atori so no extra mess (like rejecting Suzu who actually falls for her after the teasing) for her to deal with in the end. She can just came out clean and think it’s “just cute playful game” and “no harms are done” when she graduate and leave.
My read on it is a lot more straightforward. Atori really has affection for Yuu in the same way a person has affection for their pet. I think Atori has an awareness of Yuu’s crush on her but she’s doesn’t get the extent of it and it doesn’t really factor in. She’s really just likes to tease Yuu because it’s fun. I think there’s also a small part of Atori that appreciates Yuu as a pathway to social experiences she wouldn’t be able to have.

Atori has a straight up crush on Suzu for the simple reason that Suzu is the only person that rejects her charms. Suzu is also fun to tease for the same reason.

Imo the x factor is that Atori does not understand the relationship Suzu shares with Yuu. I think Atori looks as similar to her relationship with Yuu, that Suzu is the mama to Yuu’s child.

In this way she wouldn’t see her actions as stepping in to another girl’s territory for either of them.

And she clearly thinks her crush on Suzu is mutual at this point. She’s even dealt enough psychic damage to Suzu that Suzu gets stun locked by Atori’s maid outfit.

And given that Atori is comically op when it comes to personal likability, if she keeps up the charm offensive on Suzu…

The one thing I can’t imagine is Suzu consciously and deliberately betraying Yuu for any length of time.

But
since the author has said Suzu and Atori would be best friends if Suzu and Yuu hadn’t met… and that Suzu and Atori actually both get along great with each other… and both like each other’s faces… Maybe Suzu will face a moment of weakness.

I think your "x factor" is the operative point, insofar as to how Atori would react if she were to learn the extent of Suzu & Yuu's relationship (and Suzu's true feelings for Yuu).

Would she respect that and back off of Suzu, resolving to simply tease and be friendly but not fully pursue her like she's arguably doing now? Or would she not care and actually force the situation, whether it tramples on Suzu & Yuu's feelings or not?
Sure, she thinks the attraction with Suzu is mutual, and to a degree it's on Suzu for not being fully blatant/direct in her dislike of all of this (because that sells the "gag"), but if it were made clear, what Atori does from there is the most important part regarding whether this is "all in good fun" or if it crosses into ...I guess "problematic territory" would be the term, tone-wise.

That is the question that I honestly want to see answered before this series ends (assuming it's not actually completed and simply needs to be TL'd).

Even though straightforward communication would probably defuse a lot of the potential conflicts there are decent justifications for why it won’t happen.

Suzu won’t tell Yuu her true feelings probably because she doesn’t want to jeopardize their relationship. And Suzu is clear about how much Atori annoys her not that it matters to Atori (lol) and they will always be in social proximity because of Yuu. So that isn’t going anywhere.

Imo I think Yuu is gonna build up some more resilience to Atori and either try to really make a move or figure out something’s off with her romantic progression with senpai. Or Atori’s advances could really push Suzu to act.

That’s why I really dig this series. The NTR shit does make me feel queasy but it’s been a long time since I read a manga where I really don’t know where the plot is headed. And it’s still really funny! Because maybe it is all a big running gag. But it might not be!

Teasing in an annoying way or in a "fitting the vibe" teasing?
Tbh, sometimes it was a tad annoying but it's sweet at the same time. She's showing affection in her own way and it is funny. She has a good soul and always means well. It's never mean-spirited.

We also dated for 8 years... but that's another story lol

It looks like there's a Yuu body pillow in one of the panels from last chapter as well

Considering that the maid outfits from this chapter are featured in the op I'd assume that they're gonna include it
you mean this one?

So they added it later in the comic, but showed it off earlier in the animated series.
