I guess you're right about the crown prince keeping himself hidden about this. And I do see your point. But in this case, a holy magic user would be really easy to prove. Just have the person do holy magic in front of officials that actually know what holy magic does. It would be like someone proving they could shoot fireballs. All they would have to do is simply shoot a fireball in front of people for it to be true.
Ah, but that requires there being officials who do know what holy magic does. Like this is ironically a real problem in real world as well. Let's take ye olde Polish dictionary for example. In old Polish dictionary, a horse is defined "everyone knows what a horse is", and dragon as "it is hard to overcome, yet one shall try." Very fucking unhelpful.

Also again, Plato's definition of man is "a hairless bipedal creature", hence Diomedes mocked him by presenting a naked chicken as Plato's "man". Just because something fulfills the definition of X, doesn't mean it is actually X. The first chapter said Fine is the only person who can wield holy magic in the whole kingdom after a long ass time. This implies any knowledge about holy magic is limited to records and legends, or maybe Fine is the first person that can use holy magic, with Elses being the one who made up the label of "holy magic". But my point is that there is enough semantic loophole for the noble brats to challenge and outright refuse Fine's magic being defined as "holy magic".

Wow. I didnt know I skipped this chapter.

Fine became a live-in maid with her suggestion and its good idea for Ash because someone needs to guard her. Someone might kidnap her as a hostage because her abilities. Since the Crown Prince talked to them after the dual, Ash believe the students wont dare bully Fine.

The novel describes Prince Elses as the true ruler of the kingdom and control everything behind the scenes. He got the nickname of the 'Hero King' for helping commmoners, 'Thousand Faces', and a trickster. He is aware Ash is an Irregular

The novel describes the Elses as a man that only cares at efficiency and his only concern is securing his nation by any means necessary. He's attendant decribes Elses as a monster that is only interested in managing like a tabletop game and if he was a demonlord, we'd be in ruin. He's attendant is actually working for the King to see if Elses goes off the rails.

I am halfway through vol. 2 Here some bullet points so far:

-Ash and Fine goes on vacation to Fine's hometown because Fine sees Ash being stressed by his former family (Ash inherit the "Weiss" Viscount title) to marry someone from the Laben household to gain status.

-In the train to Fine's town, Ash meets his brother's wife Karla and child Aisha. Karla was going to Fine's town because there is a church that offer divorces.

-It turns out the Laben family are criminals and only married Karla because of her connections to nobles since she got client names for selling highend clothes.

-The Laben family sent assassins to capture Karla but is stopped by Ash.

-Ash and Fine infiltrated his former family home, recorded evidence and fought against corrupted Vice Commander that sided with the 2nd Prince. He wanted the Client Names to bribe nobles to side with the 2nd Prince.

-Ash and Fine defeated his former family and Commander.

-Ash's former family were executed by the royal family while the Commander became a dried up vegetable (must be from the torture from the Royals) and is basically dead.

-Ash was offered (more like by force) to become the next Vice Commander since the former is a now vegetable. Ash rejected to become the Vice Commander but is "asked" to join after graduating.

-At the end of this arc, It is revealed Aisha, Ash's niece is a reincarnater. Aisha found out she's in a game after meeting Fine. She knows Ash is a reincarnator and plans to take advantage.

From the first chapter, it seems like Ash's mansion is still in the city. I would've thought someone would've noticed two people wearing school uniforms going in and out of the same house each day, but I guess not. And even if they hide, aren't they still pretty famous?

Anyway, thanks for the spoilers! Hope the manga is as good as the LN. Those pictures of Fine really were works of art :hearts:

Fine did became popular around Ash's mansion as the shopkeepers give her extra vegetables.

I do agree with you that most people would likely be ignorant of what a holy magic user actually is. Having actual descriptive definitions of things seems to be only a recent thing. I've even heard of descriptions as "You'll know it when you see it".

But that doesn't change the fact that holy magic users are known enough for that rural backwater nun to tell Fine to hide her powers. That means there are actually people who do know what holy magic actually is and are on the lookout for users of said holy magic. There are officials that actually do know what to look for in holy magic users, and that is the likely reason why an official was sent directly to Fine to invite her to the school. Again, tell people the kingdom has verified that Fine can use holy magic. And if people still do not believe it, have Fine do a demonstration.

Prince Elses reminds me of that crown prince of Saudi Arabia. Terrifying, ruthless, efficient, and very effective at his job. No wonder the game makes him out to be a boss character.

Those two might as well get married at this point. They're practically husband and wife. How far what those two gotten in their relationship?

And wtf?! Ash's family are actually trying to get Ash to marry someone in his family? Were they trying to have him marry his sister?

What crimes do the Laben family actually do? Did Karla actually go through with the divorce, now that everyone from Laben are dead? Is there anyone left alive that can take over the Laben family? Or does Ash inherit the title by default?

Keep in mind that all this bullying stuff so far is kept within the school. And given the existence of dorms, it seems the 'outside' pretty much leave the students to do whatever they want within the school's vicinity all they want within certain limits. It's pretty much a boarding school, with all the problems that come with it such as cliques and students of high social standing oppressing those of lower ones. The jocks and the nerds, if we are to compare with real life. And really, when did anyone ever manage to solve the problem of bullying?

Ultimately Fine is just one commoner, with zero background or specific sponsor, only there because of royal family's patronage. Even if she is bullied... so what? Like sure, she has holy magic and thus special, but without legal reasons to act, the royal family will just end up alienating all the upper nobilities. Hell, the fact that we have things like "sleeve-holders" and "sleeveless" pretty much tells us that class divide is a very real problem that exists in the country and not something the royal family seems interested to tackle.

In conclusion, imo Fine as a holy magic user is someone the royal family (Elses) probably see as handy for having around, but they don't give enough fuck about her to outstretch their hands to help unless the situation calls for it. Elses only found her by complete accident after all. Reminder they don't seem to know about the Demon King prophecy so they probably think of Fine as like, a white tiger or something. A curiosity that is interesting enough to pull their attention, but nothing important enough to merit direct intervention.

Spoiler for 2/2 the vol 2

This arc focus on Ange Vallen. She suppose to be a friend or a guide character for Fine but Elise stole that role instead.

-There is a sudden power struggle within the students as the dual has nobles distancing the harem. This causes the student to suck up or reject certain families.

-Elise's family were executed with no chance of restoration. *The Royals really dont fuck around.

-Ange Vallen was bullied because she's a failing sleeved noble and Fine wanted to help because Fine was once bullied.

-Fine tried to heal her but it didnt work.

-Ash asked Sarasa about why Fine's healing didnt work and Sarasa suspect she might a be possessed by a demon.

-Fine manages to befriend Ange while Ash investigates.

-Ash and Sarasa suspects Ange is going to kill all her bullies at a ball.

-Ash concludes Sarasa isnt a reincarnator but is just a magic nerd.

-The "demon" attacks by putting people in a dream world and "killing" them.

-Ash and Fine enter the dream world with Sarasa help by rewriting a magic circle.

-Another condition for Ash and Fine to enter the dream stability is transferring magic by kissing.

-During the kiss, Sarasa told them to stop but Fine kissed even harder.

-Ash and Fine stopped the "Demon," and no one actually died in the event. The people have gaps in their memories but those that bullied Ange were scared of her.

-The turns out the Demon isnt a Demon but is a Familiar named Ardi created by Ange's Ancestor Alice Vallen. He was created to prevent nightmares for her children.

-Alice Vallen was killed by a corrupt King and bind the familiar to a book and told him to protect her family and to live and be free.

-Centuries later in the family library. Ange has been talking to Ardi because she was depressed from the bullying and She agreed to sign a contract with him.

-Ange told Ardi she is not his master but is family.

I decided to re-read both chapters again. And it seems like the main reasons shown so far for the bullying are that Fine is a commoner and that Fine has been "bullying" Elise. I still think the nobles are being retarded for thinking Fine tried to kill them with "Defensive Protection".

Fine was brought to the school by the royal family. A commoner, from a rural backwater, brought to a school exclusively for nobles, with her tuition fully paid for by the kingdom. Even if they hated her, I still think it's stupid that people would doubt Fine actually powers she claims she has. And if the spoilers are anything to go by, they really did think Fine didn't have any holy magic at all. Still, this is an isekai manga we're talking about. It's not these stories were every striving for realism or consistency, so I guess your explanation really is the reason, after all.

As for the royal family and Elses not giving enough fucks to actually do anything about the situation: it's stupid why they wouldn't keep an eye on a rare saint to the point that said saint was about to leave the school, but I would have to agree that they really do seem to be that careless.

Damn, I can't wait for that kissing scene to be shown. At least these two don't drag things on by having Fine being a violent tsundere who doesn't know why she's being violent with Ash, and Ash being dense as a rock. As I said before, those two might as well skip dating and just get married already.

Does Ange Vallen get hearts in her eyes after Ash and Fine save everyone and explain who the "demon" actually is?

And damn that royal family is terrifying! Why is it they executed Elise's entire family when it was Elise who did everything? Was is really all because of Elise, or was the family involved in someway?

Leben family spoilers

Ash describe his family fits the mold of villain nobles engaging in dirty deeds and removing political rivals. They did sold off Karla to Park, the Vice commander for money. It is shown that the Leben family abuses their servants so they are not good people. Ash isnt actually a full blooded relative as he was born from a servant. Ash's real mother died a year later and suspect its because of his family. Eventually his half blood mom divorce from the family.

The Leben family sent assassins to Fine's town to capture Karla but this cause some of the townfolks to nearly die. During the infiltration of his former family. Ash and Fine disguise themselves as the assassin and Karla with a hood over their head. Karl, Ash's brother fondle Fine's body and that got him pissed but Fine signaled him to stop. The author really wants to downplay it by saying Fine got an item from Ash where she doesnt even feel the fondling but uhhhh....

The fates of the Leben family is their property to be auction off and donated to the orphanage. Ash was lucky as he get to keep his belonging (all his dungeon loot) but is worried if it does get taken in the future. The Royals told Ash he must do a ritual to scatter ashes of his dead parents. Apparently its to calm the spirits but criminals will be damned forever.

This is hard on Ash because he wasnt used to being involved with someone's death so he cried over Fine's shoulder.

During the Royal's investigation of the Leben family's. Ash and Fine sent to Fine's hometown but it turns out to be a nice vacation for them.

Karla and Aisha were spared from the Royal family and was last seen in Fine's hometown.

Vol.2 Characters

No heart eyes. Both Fine and Agnes became good friends. When Agnes was being bullied, Fine stands up to them with calm voice and cold smile. Ardi didnt explain to them who he actually is. During the ball Ardi screamed he wants to fufill his master's wish and die alongside her. Of course he didnt die and is now transferred into a brooch so Agnes can take him with her. The novel gave Ardi his own chapter in his point of view explaining his past.

When Ardi talks while possessing Agnes' body. He talks about raising Ash's affection points to Fine. This suspect whether Ardi was in Agnes in the game version or not.

Wow Ash's family really are trash. I'm surprised that his family actually accepted Ash as one of their own instead of throwing him out. It also sounds like the royal family really favors Ash as they keep doing him favors like letting him keep his stuff and letting him inherit his own title. Uhhh, where exactly did Ash's brother touch Fine? Is it just her chest?

And it sounds like this is not going to be a harem story. That's something different. I'm so used to harems that this feels weird to me.
