The correct way to use it would be to do the introduction, but do not fire the chekhov's gun yet, instead have the main party be ignored or out of range of it to survive, making a later victory actually feel special

I think ita called a paradox beetle since it has a high defense plus those two skills that deflect physical and magical attacks. Its self contradictory i guess? It also has a hidden skill.
That beetle also used its skill to remove that poison. But in expense, its now aggressive to the point of killing itself in the proccess when time limit reached.

I'm interested by the story and the hidden gods and stuff but, a lot of the fights seem like they spend 50% of the time just striking poses. I really don't like the combat scenes in this.
Also this named monster is nowhere near as intimidating or interesting as the other ones, especially because of how the encounter went.

Yeah but i also mean its related to its skills also. One of the equipments or item they get on that beetle is also like that. I dont want to spoil more. Its one of the OP equipments the party have.

It might be that if it has any armor after this, then it's all ablative.

It'd be the same shtick as Fate Testarossa from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha has as an adult in StrikerS. She's primarily a speedster, but she starts out with armor. But her armor is ablative, meaning it protects her by absorbing the attack and destroying itself, bit by bit. And the more of it you knock off of her? That's less armor for her to haul around. So she gets faster and faster until she's channeling The Roadrunner from Looney Tunes and kiting the fuck out of her enemy.

I'm wagering that this is gonna be one of those boss battles where, for however much damage they do, one of its stats is gonna be getting upped by the amount of hitpoints it loses.
