I need to re-read this, because it feels like the anime should have skipped a lot of content to have caught up to the manga already... but I can't remember anything being skipped.

Dude's inferiority complex became his downfall for their friendship and possibly his future. I do hope we don't ever see him again later. The wounds he inflicted on her has yet to heal.

I bought 2 volumes of the official translation long before the fan translations here resumed.
I liked it, but I just read it in passing without much attention to the lore.
So in my headcannon is that her whole deal is that she learn magic in secret. So even the prince doesn't know her identity. That the sage selection (that was shown in the past) is also a secret event.
Or something like that.
Even after continuing reading this fan translations, I mostly just read it briefly.
Like, it's cute, but it's just fine, and I move on.
And then I watched the anime. I enjoyed it.
But in the first episode I remember being like: wait, she went to a magic school?
So what's with the whole "oh, I can't go to school, I can't socialize" ordeal?
And then this chapter also kinda retcon that by making that she got the idea of this silent casting from someone else.
And also that everyone should know who she is

Bernie is such a prideful dick. He's all "I want you to be strong but not stronger than me" "If I help you improve it was all thanks to me" and then projecting his own perceptions of others onto Monica. He 100% (maybe subconsciously) looked down on others so he now assumes Monica does the same even though she was such a good girl.

The anime has skipped a shitton, particularly in the first half. It's skipped enough dialogue to actively mess with characterizations of important people. It's been one of my persistent complaints with it.I need to re-read this, because it feels like the anime should have skipped a lot of content to have caught up to the manga already... but I can't remember anything being skipped.
I'm still confused about the timeline and how she can basically go to school again.
But man, the poor girl really is very autistic. It apparently took two years from her showing off silent casting to actually becoming a sage and during that time, she somehow didn't get a clue that Bernie no longer saw himself as her friend! 2 years of not talking, girl!!! I'm guessing she got it into her head that somehow becoming a sage would be the fix, which is why the moment she did, she went to him to show off her achievement and he then made it clear to her he really wanted nothing to do with her anymore. During those two years, she also managed to ignore everyone else too. I would have expected that after showing off silent casting, people would be very interested in getting closer to her, but that didn't happen in two years, even though at the time she was still willing to talk to people showing her kindness. I guess she was unapproachable; I mean she had a reputation as a mute to start with so she basically never responded to anyone. Or maybe the people who were in a position to get close to her didn't because they had either been her bullies or had seen her bullied and not taken action so they were too ashamed to approach her.
Someone suggested quick casting to her, and the technique was known - she improved on it by casting fully silently. The person who suggested that to her was as surprised as everyone else when he saw her cast silently so that's her own invention and only she is capable of it.
As for people knowing her, well, she basically ran away from society the moment she was appointed as the silent witch sage due to only going to talk to Bernie and getting the memo that he wasn't her friend anymore after she got appointed. Her appointment and title as a sage is known, but it's a recent event, and people don't know her as the person who is the new sage. I mean, without pictures (no phones nor social media) anyone who hasn't directly seen her is not going to know who she is if she's not wearing the sage attire. She didn't socialise at school, so even at the end of the chapter, people are talking about her, but they're using a title instead of her name and it's clear they have no idea who she actually is. I guess most people only ever saw her from afar but never closely interacted with her. (It's also possible that, while the manga shows that she has her face uncovered, it's possible that even back then while demonstrating silent casting she had a hoodie covering her face but that's just speculation.)
Regardless, only some people at her school, in the years she was there, would have actually seen her and known she is the silent witch. Outside of her school, people aren't going to recognise her.

still felt like a retcon to me, at least for the manga, since early in the manga it is heavily implied that she never went to school.
If she did, her entire monologue would be about her bad memories of school.
and the rest is still weak argument to me, putting headcanon over another headcanon.
I don't buy that the prince can't get at least an image or drawing of her face if the school is known.
