you'd think she would have at least kept some of her scheming personality or knowledge from her first life, how did she end up so monumentally helpless in the second?
She wasn't really scheming. She was selfish, dumb and reckless and got caught for it.
As she said, just like the prince who thought it a good idea to go abduct and rape a well-known noblewoman in broad daylight with several witnesses present.

I appreciate when these stories have those moments where the protagonist reflects that the difference between them and the villain is that they got a second chance to reform.

Now don't get me wrong Julius is a PoS who needs to be stopped, and maybe he wouldn't learn a thing. But it'd be hypocritical not to reflect on it.

Villainess turned into unassertive trad wife and life went well
Goddangit I hate that this is a little accurate.

Yay. An actual villainess!

kinda reminds me of the villainess reverses the hourglass where
mc gets to go back and repeat her life, fixing her mistakes and living a better (if still somewhat evil) life, but then later on, one of the main villains also gets a second chance when they're reborn as someone new. They also learned from all their mistakes and were able to live a better life as a result,

I'm not really sure how to feel about this. She was in the wrong in her first life, no doubt about it, but would she have walked that path had he not been a jerk?
I was hoping that he had also been sent back and had realized his coldness was partially to blame and while she was improving herself he was forming connections to keep her safe from the shadows

Sometimes something ordinary is nice too. Outside of the weird Cinderella story, vol 14 was an enjoyable one.
Can't wait for the next volume... but how long is this series going to go on?

Jerk he may be, but her actions were ultimately her own bad choices. It's wrong to hold someone else accountable for another's shitty choices just cause they "said mean words!" likely why she improved in this life because he was right, she was in the end "only good for her pretty face" in the first life and that brought her to ruin when she made stupid choices because of her greed.

Lucky for her, she got SUPER LUCKY in life to get a second chance (LITERALLY) though one day I really want to see an Antagonist who GETS something like this and instead of "learning a life lesson" they SQUANDER it thinking THIS TIME they'll get better results from the same bad choice. Fuck up, get an even WORSE end, and stupidly assume they'll get a THIRD chance while the one who gave it to them shakes their head on how they could make a bad call like that.

The prince was suffering from profound loneliness? That's the excuse for his behavior? She was too in her first life? That's her excuse? Really? Participating in the Prince's inner circle and being his royal cockhouse was out of loneliness?
Did the author forget the beginning where she said everyone loved her as a cute child so she became selfish lookist who did whatever she wanted in her first life? Couldn't think of a better reason for her to still feel uneasy like the state secrets that got her hanged?

We don't really know why he was a jerk, but I feel like the fact he was popping up at tea parties as a girl and being bullied was an implication that MC bullied him too in her first life.
Anyways, she probably would have walked to her death regardless. There's no way she wouldn't have friction with him because of her established selfish personality.

Scheming? Knowledge? She was just something the prince bounced on his waist that happened to learn state secrets and accidentally leak them. She didn't start studying seriously until her second life.
Who knows why she doesn't have at least a guard or two and some servants while at the orphanage though.

I was really hoping that was gonna be the twist, especially with the fact that he apparently covered her from the rain right before her execution. Would have loved it being both of them earnestly trying to improve themselves with their second chance.
