Yay. An actual villainess!

kinda reminds me of the villainess reverses the hourglass where
mc gets to go back and repeat her life, fixing her mistakes and living a better (if still somewhat evil) life, but then later on, one of the main villains also gets a second chance when they're reborn as someone new. They also learned from all their mistakes and were able to live a better life as a result,
Yeah, I know the one you mention! Iris, loved how Aria was kind of just "talking out of her ass on purpose" when she revealed to Iris that she came from a Bad timeline and so there WAS a chance she could get a power and survive! Helps Iris was reincarnated as a poor commoner!

Funny enough a RPG called Chained Echoes had this as a Major Plot point for the Main Protagonist Glenn (being that among it's inspirations, Xenogears was one of them, mainly the chosen one reincarnated into multiple different lifes it took till Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for the Creator to go back to) basically Glenn's FIRST life was as a spoiled rich noble named Van, during the game, he assumed he was Leanne, the Female Heroine who is ALSO a reincarnates lover who inspired to reincarnate to be with her again, Van was her "fiancée" in that life who accidently killed her trying to kill the Lover when she tried to run away and elope with the guy!

To make things short, Van ended up taking the Lover's place in the ritual because he FELT entitled to Leanne even in the next life, causing the guy to reincarnate as normal....but Van's next life similar to Iris was as a poor commoner! Suffice to say all his lives ended up with him suffering, but being an important figure in each new life, one of them being a GREAT scientist you hear about in the game before you find this out, and another well you have a party member who has a LONG lifespan, so Glen ended up being his MASTER he looked up to, and still does as he starts seeing Glenn abit like him once it's found out! But that FIRST incarnation CHANGED Van, he lost EVERYTHING, he was a nobody and nearly STARVED to death if not for the kindness of a stranger! Lets just say Glenn doesn't take this revelation well. And the COLLECTIVE guilt Van has grown in each life does get to him....along with Van wanted to apologize to Leanne for what he put her and her lover through and his past actions. The Big Bad of the story who was ACTUALLY the Big Good, had no CHOICE but to use Van for his plans to save the world, so GUIDED him even up to the events of the game where he's Glenn in order to be the Hero the world needed! At the end of the game, Glenn gives up his reincarnation, giving it to his Former friend, the game's "Traitor Party Member" who went through his OWN humiliations (the game was deconstructing the Traitor Trope by the fact he NEVER returns, a Hidden Party member slash "former GOOD guy antagonist joining your side" uses his equipment! And suffice to say, the dude suffers BIG! Mainly the Bad Guys have no use for him when he KEEPS failing, in other games, the Traitor despite failing ALWAYS seems to be in a high position, NOPE, dude suffers BIG for his betrayal by it getting WORSE for him, including getting RAPED by an old man, and well his body CHANGED to worse and worse things! All by the Big Bad I mentioned who was the Big Good actions because he was just FODDER for Glenn's development) through the story. Glenn sees himself in the guy, the "Van" he started out as and hopes the reincarnation will assure his "character development" STICKS

Iris gets the same, in a way, Iris "Second Life" was similar in a way to this "Villainess" if you think on it! She didn't squander her second chance and made the most of it. Just like the FMC in this story she foolishly did treasonous actions, and at the end, only felt REGRET and "Peace" when she knew her BROTHER at least would be alive, along with the FEAR of her end and hope Aria wasn't being a BITCH one last time to her! Which happens and well she doesn't SQUANDER it just like this FMC did with her time travel. She learned to ACTUALLY to be grateful to the things in life that actually matter! Though Iris had to start over from scratch, and funny enough ends up working for the guy who while having a hand in her ruin in her last life, did love her and her ruination was mostly her own damn fault! It also made her FULLY UNDERSTAND Aria where before she saw her as just a Whore's Daughter "destined to be a Whore herself" had a "Kill the Poor" mentality and if I remember, SHE was the one to prompt Mielle drive to kill Aria and her mother before she was married into the family to "Remember Filth" so finding herself in the position of a powerless commoner and seeing how life was for them. Really drove the point that she DESERVED her Karmic Butt Monkey status in the final parts of her life when everything went to ruin, especially taking into mind the FIRST timeline where things got WORSE for everyone and the Kingdom because the Humiliation Aria got the Prince to transfer onto her, instead happened to him and she and her fellow ENTITLED Nobles were free to wreck havoc to the Kingdom with their bad choices piling up, of course they had scapegoats, but the mindset that Commoners existed to get exploited was something she finally realized was stupid and wasteful! She had her chance, now she got to watch as Aria, a girl who was BORN a Commoner, ignoring her Noble blood status she found out later rose up and even in her "villainy" made things BETTER for all more then her and her group of entitled nitwits who were born into it failed to do

Yes yes, i like this kind of story. Well, basically because i also write an oc with this kind of setting. Being a jerk in the beginning, understand their mistakes and get another chance to fix everything. You can only did this in fiction but i really like a redemption type of a story (that's not only an arc but the whole story about it), i can't really find a good series with this genre so i just write it for myself lmao...
(yeah villainess with an hourglass is a good one but it kinda meh for me because that step-sister of her also a white lotus. I need a mc with good family, but they lost everything because of their own fault not being sabotaged by anyone :<)

I was really hoping that was gonna be the twist, especially with the fact that he apparently covered her from the rain right before her execution. Would have loved it being both of them earnestly trying to improve themselves with their second chance.
Yeah would love to see that one day too! An Otome story where the Reincarnate MC wasn't the "Villainess" but the regretful ML who after he killed her, his life went downhill as his "other choice" the Heroine "wasn't so good" and things got worse and worse as he found out REVELATIONS about his "dead Ex" he never knew before. So when he got REINCARNATED to his youth when he first met her, he strives to assure she doesn't end up the same way. And through it sees a side of her that made him feel like a FOOL for missing (cause the Heroine he chose had alot of sides to her he HATED AND LOATHE that he only saw AFTER they married, no making her a VILLAINESS, maybe Jerkass as she still pursued a relationship with someone else's fiancee, not that he isn't guilty of it either) and discovers despite her HAUGHTNESS, she was a BETTER fit for Queen then his "other choice" (Classic: "Commoner common sense has NO PLACE in Royalty as turns out trying to expect a Priest to know how to do Heart Surgery is the height of stupidity one can reach!")

Or how about something akin "The Villainesses Will Not Waver"

(Funny enough, I think there IS a Manga/Novel on this, where the PRINCE character ends up getting VISIONS of the OG timeline and works with his Fiancee, the Villainess the prevent it, of course the STORY tries to ADJUST to the fact he's not playing ball to make them BOTH the "Villainess Couple" and his younger brother "taking his role as the PRINCE character, even if not CROWN PRINCE" but their preparations as the story is on them growing up together and building foundations is taken into account! By the time the STORY begins, well the Novel version had multiple routes! One route has him FUCK UP and cause the story to "be played straight" meaning he FELL for the Heroine and the Villainess is not only heartbroken, but he acts a fool that he's forced to watch EVERYTHING they build be taken from him, including HER to his despair, it's assumed he foolishly tried to "have his cake and eat it" and lost BOTH! One timeline had them be DEFEATED AND EXILED, but still together and STILL living good by the choices they made before the game story helping them get by in comfort together! And the main timeline of the story where they basically PREVENT the BAD ENDING which in hindsight wasn't that bad! Don't ask me the name though, I'm STILL finding all those GOOD Manga/Manhua again! Sadly I use to read all these things on Mangakakalot before it's shut down! Forcing me onto MangaPark and MangaDex and making me REGRET not opening a Profile on this site specifically SOONER as a "Just in case" as this also means when I DO find the good ones again....I have to read them from SCRATCH ESPECIALLY IF THEY WERE LONG as hell! LOL! The one thing I DO remember, is the Prince's body guard had the "Shark Teeth Thug with a Heart of Gold" Look!)

I was interested during the introduction page, since much of this anthology goes the betrayal/misunderstanding/etc route instead of the main character being an actual villainess. But then the whole tone still treats her like another sympathetic victim, and I simply cannot feel bad for her at all. I hope the next release is better.

I think a bigger theme here was the tunnel vision she tended to have. It wasn't just that she ignored how loved she was in her first life, but also that it led to her completely misinterpreting her fiance.

I liked this one overall, but thought it would've been more interesting if her fiancé also experienced this as his second life as well

Oh boy, do I want to read the regression isekai anthology... I do think that it not being bound by having to be a Villainess story (and then not really being one anyways) could be good. But if I'm gonna be entirely honest, I'm afraid they might not even do the regression plot point well

Oh well, no point in speculating. I gotta read it for myself to see! Besides, we got refreshing villainess stories in the first volume of this anthology, I would hope the other anthology also starts off strong

I'm genuinely confused as to why she would even be attracted to the Prince in the first life. Let's assume she was selfish, reckless, indulgent, etc. Would someone that think she's all like a self absorbed, ugly, r*apist? Does that make sense? I mean it wasn't like he was Prince Charming at the ball, but rather Prince Arrogant.

On one hand, I quite like the actual villainess history and reformation.

On the other, the change was too sudden and I was really hoping for her fiance to also get time regressed.

Dressing young boy as a girl to ward off evil spirit is Japanese practice. The first time I read about was from a manga, they often give girls' name to the boy too.

We don't really know why he was a jerk, but I feel like the fact he was popping up at tea parties as a girl and being bullied was an implication that MC bullied him too in her first life.
It says in one of her lines he proposed the engagement in the past life, and I think it might have been him who gave the coat at the start. My guess is because he wasn't much of a talker his line "I never intended to engage myself to a woman who only has her looks." Was instead supposed to be taken differently like "I engaged you not because of your looks." We only get some backstory for them so we don't have a full picture of what she was like to him.

thank you for translating
I was convinced he had a little sister that didn’t exist or she didn’t know about in the previous timeline.

"Its family tradition to force children to crossdress"

That sounds like a supremely unethical and horribly abusive tradition to inflict on children and most likely leads to severe confusion and mental illness amongst family members
