Yes, but also no. It's a tamer vs a knight, and the tamers pets are their weapon.
Complaining about a tamer using their pets in a fight is kind of like complaining about a wizard using magic, or a swordsman using a sword. Also tamers in that world are typically a shitload weaker than Valius.

The story is bad, I can neither agree or disagree. I'm not completely sold on the story myself.
The characters are whatever, again I can't disagree or agree.
The setting is dumb, this one I completely agree on.
The art is bad, now hold on there I in no way can agree with that. This artist is absolute peak at going from goofy simple designs to greatly detailed ones at the best times.
