I've read a LOT, and no amnesia plot outside of comedy (Ranma 1/2, although it's treated as serious. However, it's also done early in the story so it doesn't bother me that much), being dead (The Sixth Sense), and/or reincarnated (Cautious Hero) has been satisfactory.

Even One Piece did amnesia with Sabo, and it was just kinda meh and because IMO he as a character came out of nowhere.

One other upside I can think of for Momo's amnesia though is they can't steal her powers while she's got no memories.

Seems I was right on the money!
Now we still don't know who those priests were or whom they're allies with, but at least we know Saint Germain is leading an antagonist faction of humans with yokai powers that's also in an unstable alliance with some aliens

The memory loss was 100% made so that the romance doesn't advance any further.
If this whole thing was only about her powers, then the author could've made it so that ceremony that the mountain shamans did weakened her, and she would be weakened until X is solved and no one would question it. The laws and rules surrounding these things are hazy so no one would bat an eye.

This is easily the worst arc and this might be the worst chapter. Amnesia still going strong, a ton of lore about an awful and annoying character, and pseudo kengan ashura inside of dandadan with yokai powers. It's beautifully shit

I think i've seen that pretty much everywhere during the chapter discussion. It is a pretty obvious outcome if you think about it though. This is just chapter 1 momo.

She is the alien in xenomorph rip-off suit. Her home planet has been conquered and her lover killed by the Kur so she joined the Kur's army to one day kill them herself. She got beaten down by Okarun and her unit's Kur died so she stuck on Earth for now. She was just a lowly pawn and without her Kur superior she has no way to go back to the army and continue her revenge plan. Thus she dump all the blame on Okarun and joined saint Germain.

The Kur also responsible for Vamola' planet invasion. Luckily all her adopted moms are badasses and now they fleed their home planet and on their way to Earth.

and yeah, i also hope this amnesia arc won't drag too long. 10-12 chapters (about one volume worth) is probably my max tolerance for it

and St. Germain will definitely use her amnesia to befriend the protag group
