Also, did the author just throw away the childhood friend after the crazy event? at least give her some closure on the MC.

I think it was just showing the moment she "broke" or lost her innocence in perspectives and turned into the current Fumi. I wonder where we go from here though, in regards to the story. This manga seems like its not supposed to be light hearted and lovey dovey so I feel like something else nefarious might be cooking. Either that or the rest of the manga is just gonna be Fumi trying to edge Rinta (but there is still progression in their relationship, it just gets kind of fetishy) or worse, more ntr/rape baiting.
