they undermined the eldritch horror. the only uniqe part of this weak-to-strong fantasy novel.

The way it was worded, her parents branded her based on their beliefs. So, it doesn't sound like it was the church who did that, at least.

And true, it is nice the other hero party members liked the MC. I suspect that they will all leave Jean and regroup with her instead.
