Yes! It's one of those trope! However, it's justified for Mei to keep those feelings. Remember, I'm biased for this kind of story!

You know, as a sucker for those kind of stories, I'll agree with you. Ryouga is handsome and prince, mind you. She's better off with Ryouga then with her trashy blood-related family!
