Soo, I think doing it this way, instead of having the MC magically awaken his superpowers and 3vs1 them is a nice touch, but at the same time it feels like he was holding back. I mean, apart from the obvious fact that he didn't retaliate once. But like, this seemed pretty personal to him, so maybe he's had bad experiences with violence/being violent in the past
The bully's "friends" (?) seem like somewhat reasonable people at least...

I have no idea what you were expecting,it's a three versus one and all he wants is a better school life for another,getting expelled ain't going to help his case.

And the other 2 had to stop the main asshole from finishing the stomping, they could have just stay put and watch

And on top of losing the fight, he failed the talking part too because the asshole deflected everything he said, because as an bully he will stand his ground and refuse to take accountability

instead got himself clowned on, and the other 2 had to stop the bully from finishing the job

If this was an actual 1v3, given how inadequate the MC is equipped to handle conflict, he wouldn't have even been able to fumble and fail the talking part, the fight would have been skipped to him getting stomped by all 3 instead of being stomped by just the bully

And that would have been a better outcome because at least he would have had the excuses of:

"Oh he was outnumbered "

And "they didn't let him talk"

And "they dint listen to him "

All of which don't apply here, at best you can say that he bend over ass up and is holding back because he really wants to talk it out, but he was using force from the start by making demands, and he already failed talking it out before his ass ended on the floor, in fact diplomacy failed when his bag was kicked

Sorry, but talking to solve your differences only works if the other part is a half decent human being.

Bullies will percieve someone weaker as not worth hearing out, so violence IS the answer, no manner the consecuences.

A good punch or kick in the balls will send the proper message instead.

You don't know how many people are like that in the world. They can pick on you all they want but the second you do it back is when all hell breaks lose. My own mother is like that as well. She will point out everyone's flaws while throwing the worst when you point back at her.

It was a three versus one,if he started punching the dude,the two others would've also started punching him once they showed up,and again,something that shouldn't be forgotten,him throwing hands can get him expelled,which is not condusive to him seeing her get better.

As for his words not working,they literally did once he called out his laugh,stabbed right into the bullys' core.

Others have noted that yes,what we have here is a pacifist male main character,the main protagonist even,who wasn't afraid to confront the bully without needing to bloody them.

In fact,if anyone with authority showed up,they would've found a guy getting one sidedly beaten,ain't no one going to blame the victim like that,and the angry fella probably would've gotten into more hot water then the vicitm.

honestly that's what I expect to (and hope will) happen.

She told him not to go after the bully and get involved, and he did it anyway - she'd have every right to chew him out (heh) over it.

But I also think she would be genuinely worried for his safety, assuming she caught sight of him getting kicked on the ground. And it might be the start of a shift in their relationship toward being less one-sided on his end, as well.
