guessing the demonic being the dragonoid was talking about is the figure hanging around the daughter.
Luckily, she has the dragon stone with her (I assume), so it'll be easy-ish to track her down, and hopefully before serious harm/death befalls her (which I assume is the demonic being's goal, to rip whatever tenuous stability exists between the Saintess and Pope to shreds by killing the heir, and possibly pinning it on either the Pope faction, or on outside agents like MC).

Interesting turn of events, though.
Thanks for the mass TL dump of the volume.

For a series that has had breakneck pacing for two volumes, suddenly shifting down like this was a bit jarring. I know it's all coming to a head, but I was surprised to see full chapters only giving out small bits of information

We were so close to understanding more of Sylvie! She's a terrible mother, but her relationship with Elaine might not be as hostile as I thought!

It's starting to look pretty likely Sylvie herself isn't hostile but has been powerless to resist her own mother who is currently assassinating her way to becoming pope. Only now getting the chance to try and win over Elaine to get help both for herself and her daughter Anna.

So I'm guessing the mother, the Saintess, actually doesn't mind too much if her daughter isn't a saintess (we haven't actually seen her worrying about it, or forcing it), so I guess that the grandmother is the pushy one - perhaps even trying to pay their way into the Saintess role.

It's interesting that Humans are expected to know and retain knowledge about the sanctuaries and the Saintess, but it's also a taboo to speak about these things... jeez, I wonder how humans forgot? :bleh:

Well, well, well, it seems Sylvie might not be a terrible person (or a terrible mother) after all. But as the current saintess, from a family that pushed hard to get more saintesses from their bloodline, she's probably under pressure from all sides.

I bet this will be another case of "if only I had known better, I could have mended past rifts" for Elaine, this time with her family... although it looks as if the previous saintess and current pro-saintess mastermind was always going to be a lost cause.

Sieg really blundered this one huh. Two f-ups in a row is surprising for his character, but should give him good character development.

Yes, she also reveal to Elaine that the purification power Sylvie/Anna has were Elaine's.

Because the real power Sylvie's family has is 'stealing' (and the reverse of granting power they have)
Olga stole Elaine's purification power, then gave it to Sylvie, then split that half-half once Anna was born to give to the latter.

Next volume has a lot of very interesting plot development

He's a total brat. At least he's not a bully and doesn't purposefully hurt anyone, but otherwise he feels no limits and is doing whatever he wants. Right after receiving a lecture from his mother, he just goes forward and throws away property he stole from his mother. That being said, that's probably the best Elaine could do to bring him up.

After all, it's not like Elaine would be fundamentally a good person herself. She's just trying to live like a good person this time through, after having experienced a total failure in her previous life when she didn't. So, while she might be almost like a saintess in the eyes of others, deep down she's still the same person who's capable of murdering her own "friends", if needed to protect her schemes. Interestingly her basic personality is also demonstrated by how she was so carelessly using the dragon stone as a paperweight in a borrowed office, in a foreign country. No respect whatsoever toward Zir the Dragon. But that's Elaine.
