I just watched the whole movie, and holy fucking shit it's absolute cinema :qq:
Though I wouldn't say the ending is happy, I wish they thought of a way to save Kaguya from that hellish cycle :meguuusad:
I don't watch movies at all, and I'm really glad I watched this one :glee: And now I'm really sad it ended :fml:🚬

it's becoming pretty common the trope 'freeloader but it's ok'

It feels like the same as the movie but it’s different and a little bit more lively. Hope for more chapter and also a physical copy of it❤. GO WATCH THE MOVIE IF YOU HADN’T

Mangaka said they were uncomfortable with doing BL/GL but those are words via machine TL.
It could have been that they're uncomfortable because they personally do not have the experience of being in a LGBTQ relationship + perspective, artists pull from their experiences and it is quite hard to portray something you don't know, and haven't seen personally. If that's a problem, should only people that have been in LGBTQ relationships be allowed to portray them?
Plus that tweet was over 3 years ago.

No opinion on what's the Mangaka's deal right now, but I would indeed say that both the film version and the novel version are better than this one. They provide more content while this "manga adaptation" barely does any worthwhile innovation. I mean unless you're a die hard manga fan who doesn't like watching anime then you're better watching the film or the novel anyway.

(And did the artist say anything regarding their attitude towards this stuff at the moment? I don't know much about the industry, but I thought all the artist for the manga adaptation had to do is to copypaste the story in Manga format, dice it into consumable parts, paired with extra ideas where the film couldn't do but still enhances the main idea's performance.)

Also this manga just experienced quite possibly the most radical drama-related rating drop in Yuri history of the entire site. a 0.8 score drop in a mere few days and 0.1 drop in only a few hours.

Yeah, it's the weaker of the adaptations for sure, but that's to be expected of a manga adaptation of a movie tbh. The pacing in particular feels a bit wacky here, but it's still fun to read nevertheless.

The mangaka said they had to cut some scenes to fit better with the manga, but wanted to enhance some of her favorite scenes from the movie. You can see a little bit of that here, a couple original scenes like the concert after the handshake, and a few montage moments being cut down, but nothing crazy.

Don't bother reading this, go read the light novel or watch the movie since at least the creators of thoae ain't homophobic, mangaka of this adaptation is going to butcher the story since he’s erasing the importance queer parts of it.
