yep, my same thought, seeing him act so uncomfortable down to the last chapter didn't make me believe in them as a couple at all.

it was the opposite for me. Knowing dude had social anxiety cause of his trauma and barely trusted people and then started with Marin and then starrrrrrted to expand into his class and then your one friend becomes your gf. I wanted to see him GET comfortable with her. Like that would have felt satisfying given that he was always nervous about everything all the time; though I guess that would be character growth that the author never actually wrote in for him.

Even at the Angel photoshoot his anxiety and negativity got to him when it was their, what, 12th cosplay together. Gojo Wakana was never allowed to grow out of his anxiety which for some people, is probably real. I still would have wanted to see more of them being a couple though.

I agree with you that I would have wanted to see that growth.
The fact that the author designed him as the ideal Bf makes me weep for his future husband.

ah, a fan doing what the author couldn't. just a few chapters like these in the actual manga can change someone's lasting impression of it and how it's remembered.
