I was interested at the building at the chapter cover, only to found out it's a real building. This place looks sick!

Oho. So the traffic accident memorial was right on, and multiple people noting the dead hallway as the entryway. But now we have a new pickle... one I admit I'm interested in. I find "well your parent didn't want you to get run over (but never clarified that) so she LOVED you!" a little weak, so I'm glad we're building a little more.

I bet one of the news on newspaper page must be related for it to be shown on a whole page 🤔
Also could it be southeast from entrance? So it's the storage room next to the entrance

That's a very weak apology for the years of suffering, so I'm glad it isn't the conclusion to the case.

One thing I noticed is that she's kept very far away from the southwest part of the house - the living room, or the storage room next to it - and that her leaving/returning will always be seen from the kitchen, or any of the north rooms, since she has to use the alleyway.

Seems like both Negishi and the MC were both grasping for straws - Negishi wanting even a scrap of evidence her mother cared for her, and the MC wanting to bring comfort to her, even if it means not being entirely honest, so they both latched onto the accident to resolve the case, weak as it is. Poor Negishi can't catch a break...

The newspaper page doesn't show any related articles that I can see. The article next to it is something about agricultural problems, and the full page has random headlines about a mayor being dishonest, a couple people dying while climbing Mount Hotakadake, a serial thief who steals tires (heh), and little easter eggs referencing Uketsu's other works (I didn't mention this before, but Uketsu references pop up here and there in all of their manga).

Tbh the whole layout is weird even the original one, you enter the house and you are met with bedroom? So if you have guest you need to bring them deep into the house just to get to the living room
I found another thing weird, though this might be just culture clash. All the doors on the hallway leading to the living room opens outward. Not only this may become a fire hazard, it's as if whoever designed it wants to make it annoying for anyone going to the living room from the entrance... or anyone going to the living room to Ms. Negishi's bedroom.

As to why I said it might be culture clash, all doors in my house open inwards to the room.

I don't know if I fully buy the parents just wanting to prevent their daughter from becoming an Isekai protagonist. And for a second I was concerned that the story would try to excuse the abuse coming from the mother, but it seems we are going in a different direction

This is a very interesting theory, another cult perhaps?

a cult is make sense, this can explain about the doll. Her mother attitude and the time are mystery right now. Her father attitude can explain he doesn't want her to know about the accidient. But her mother attitude is very strange, like she scare something when Negishi get hurt, and why 5 years after the house completed she asked to remove Negishi room ?
The money is her mother work many works to get it and keep it as secret money so the father didn't know about it, so the mother ask to remove Negishi room that mean the doll is belong to her.
In conclusion the father doesn't know anything he just want Negishi doesn't know about the accidient. It all about the mom, maybe she is in the cult , she want the house like the doll or the altar to pray

I mean this is probably reaching, but the doors are sliding doors mayhaps? Maybe the author just doesn't know how to draw sliding door for a house plan 😂

Sliding doors aren't drawn like that in a typical house plan. If neither the author or the artist didn't research something so basic for the story they're going for, that's just baffling.

no? the sliding doors are drawn properly in the floor plan for the Katabuchi family house (chapter 12, for example)

It's normal in Japanese ""modern old"" house. Guest usually received at entrance/genkan, or there is a small tatami room near entrance to receive them. So... Entrance > Toilet > Room/Living > Kitchen + Living/Dining > Toilet + Bath + Washing Room.

Just imagine Doraemon's Nobi family house lol

Modern floorplan usually move private area far from entrance:
Entrance > Toilet > Wardrobe/Storage > Kitchen + Dining + Living > Rooms > Toilet + Bath + Washing Room
or put all bedrooms 2nd floor.

If only one floor and the space limited the room usually a bedroom/flexible tatami room and parents' room usually a flexible tatami dining/living/bedroom.

Modern flat floorplan like 1LDK etc usually put kitchen and bath near entrance tho probably for utility reason.
