I mean, are we assuming the whole country is bad? What about the people? If nobles are corrupt, what about the commonfolk? Do they deserve to be wiped off the world too, just because their king is a dumbass?
IMO, you can throw these 3 to the masses and let them deal with the scum that almost killed them all.....but erasing the whole country seems a bit too much

Not to mention even after getting rid of the nobles and the church they're still having consequences of losing their blessing, the common folk are arguably being punished too

I love how despite just being a magical goddess voice, one of the other goddess is just in the background making sure she has appropriate lighting when they were deciding their divine intervention.

The funniest part is that they can't even see her, she's literally doing that just to get into character, it's probably why in the gag page at the end one is acting as a director and the other as a cameramen

The thing is that Kousuke doesn't want to outright kill people, much less the innocent civilians, also, this punishment might look lenient but it might be more cruel because two things will probably happen:

1 - people will know the king and the church utterly fucked, what are the chances the people will rise and do a purge?

2 - if Kousuke decided to destroy the kingdom that was it, but as it was said without a blessing the country is doomed to a slow death, no crops, no hunting, monsters attacking

Kousuke is arguably being reasonable, it's like with the previous idiots who messed with him, the angels made clear to everyone they fucked up and the civilians took the matter in their hands, so the people responsible gets punished and the innocent civilians don't get hurt cause they're smarter than their leaders

Although we don't know what will happen after the purge cause the civilians will still have no church and no blessing, living in that country wil not be nice for a few years or decades until the gods decide to bless them again

In short, instead of a quick death they're going to have a long time of hardships, it's not flashy but it'll send message to everyone to not fuck up with Kousuke without needing to nuke everyone

A note but the blessing wasn't removed from the Country, they actually clarified that. But as they said the Temple that just lost their Blessing is "the only temple" in that Country so what they have to do is now is to completely cut it lose and try to gain favour of another temple to settle there. It will force the king to swallow a boot sized humble pill but he has to if he cares even a bit about his country.
Also a decent chance that a neighbouring country will just swallow them up now.

But as they said the Temple that just lost their Blessing is "the only temple" in that Country so what they have to do is now is to completely cut it lose and try to gain favour of another temple to settle there. Also a decent chance that a neighbouring country will just swallow them up now.

1 - fucking god herself will descend from the fucking heavens and tell everyone what happened, which means everyone will know the king was involved, I think there's high chances the country will not have a king anymore :v

2 - I feel the temple details is just a distinction without a difference, the country still loses the blessing by proxy cause all the churchs are now worthless

I think your decent chance is most likely what will happen, the royalty there is most like done for so the only way the country can survive is by being assimilated by another country and their own churchs going there

Considering that the other alternative to these punishments is the divine nuke, i guess they got off lightly in comparison. Still, I’d imagine that the current Gates Kingdom prolly will greatly struggle to reclaim their tower, judging by their panicked looks.

I don’t think the temple bit is a distinction. IMO it’s basically a softly-said threat that the gods are fully aware of said temple’s corruption, and until Dominic’s temple (and all related associates and branches) are purged, one could expect severe shortcomings with their lifestyle until they are purged and the temple remade…or until the kingdom gets destroyed by neighbors and/or monsters, whichever kills them first.

the 2nd point, again, what Kousuke did there, just gave only the church a massive erasure (because the country will not be losing the blessing, they will not get the same punishment of failing crops, not getting to hunt animals or the attack of beasts), pretty much the country will need to get another temple there or whatever other empire/kingdom absorbs them, because with the big f*ck up, all the world will see that place as easy pickings.
The other thing is that church got warnings by the gods before this moment, so the people will share part of the punishment as they let their leaders majorly screw up.

the other churches were butthurt with Kousuke until the tower got the 3 temples and the goddesses appearing in the mortal realm, we have seen already the thicc head priest acting correctly, why would they leave that place with a god so close? specially since they have already get revelations about acting in good faith with the living god.
