I like the art and the basic premise, but it feels like her becoming a pirate was just too whimsical; I would've liked if she had a better reason, like if they were seperated when they were taken as kids and she joined the pirate crew. I also imagine there'll be a cop out about how she hasn't actually murdered all those people and is just playing with Alfred.

ah. she's mentally unstable,so it seems. really different from what I was expecting but I'll give it a few chapters, my interest for this manga has significantly diminished when fmc's character was still the same, but slightly disturbed. They better give a good justification why she turned out that way, but something tells me things will only go downhill from here 😐

all that studying he insisted on doing, ostensibly toward that end, she did not do.

So, no - I don't think there was a path for her to join the navy alongside him. Especially when it's pretty clear she's not the type to sit still and apply herself to the things necessary to get into that sort of career, coupled with what would seem to be a fairly prominent "anti-authoritarian" streak on her part (what with the evading adult figures and acting in opposition to decorum and all manner of rules").

I kind of hope this goes as far as making her an actual legitimate criminal instead of it just being a LARP where she's just "Playing" a pirate and has never done anything wrong. Just to add to the drama and maybe force her into a situation where she realizes she's thoroughly in the wrong.
