I had this kind of idea in the past: a deeply intimate couple who happen to be perfectly comfortable around each other without any romantic or erotic context. Figured nobody would ever write something like this for obvious reasons. Very interesting.

my two main characters are very much "siblings without shame" coded. shame is culture dependent, doesnt really apply outside of a certain age range(both are immortal and ancient) and kinda loses its meaning when you are different species(even if technically the same species biologically due to shenanigans). they are both fully aware that they could be a super sweet couple but have decided against it. no kissing (or more), but hugging in the bath is fine kinda boundary.
they also find it hilarious that they are the only ones who will truly be together forever but arent a "normal couple", going so far as to laugh at people calling their bond "a waste"/saying they should "upgrade/go further/whatever"
