Ik, it's just... Drawing a fantasy comic and self-publishing is something you do out of passion. So, I find it strange that all the passion ends when it comes to quality control to ensure your work matches that passion.

Well, first, I doubt that writing and drawing a story at the same time is easy and second, as with all things there are other motivators besides passion. (just look at young teenagers wanting to become streamers or what not. That was the hot thing back in the Fortnite days at least. Doubt that passion was what drove them all.)

For the first point, perhaps a platform or service that connects writers with artists would be beneficial, but it might just end in a similar way, I don't know.

Most important thing of all though, what we deem as mediocre might be someone else's cup of tea. Take only a gander at most of the slop isekai titles (and I honestly wonder how some of them even got their own publications) and you'd still find comments praising it or at least waiting for more chapters.

But you forget, the readers. Slavery is the new hype and it makes the overpowered self-insert MC look soooo kind if he shows them basic human decency like "You can eat on the table with me", "You can wear normal clothes", etc. Every woman would instantly be smitten by those words.

Then I shall not disappoint. Just gonna cut the isekai part, and e voilà, Fantasy Slop, virtually indistinguishable from normal isekai slop (just changed/cut two pages on the first chapter). Just add in a little bit of Revenge at the beginning (story will sooner get axed than reach a satisfying conclusion to that) and let's get ourselves a loyal, yes-woman waifu (psst, she won't be the only one. Shocker, I know.). Sapperlot, I can't forget our beloved gamification of the world. Better make our MC hit the Level Cap or he might be too inconvenienced by gods and all that mystical stuff I lazily copy from european mythology wrong. (He also gets a doggo named Fenrir, because of course that's his name.)
