I hope to god this doesn't happen, it's a trope I dislike. I'm not sure if that's a normal talking point in Japan but being into dudes isn't something you can just toggle off and I hope mangakas stop using it.
It's not about toggling it off, it's about being seen as "normal". How you're perceived by others is a huge factor here.

I feel that they will accept him, but I'm worried that their initial reaction might start a panic and make things go south. Things have been going a little too smoothly for this no healthy relationships manga.

People did say the author said this arc would be lighter but I can imagine maybe it'd work out for the guys but the lesbian chara still unrequited

It's not a trope. It's something that is happens in many cultures. I don't know if you come from a place that being gay is accepted but its wildly not. Japan is still a conservative country that doesn't even have gay marriage legal. If you ever live or come from a conservative background then you would understand it. Yeah, its fiction but the whole point of the manga is writing what they know and what their society taught them.

This is something I HATE when other people say "why not ___" "I dislike because xyz" on non-anglo countries. I'm from the USA yet I know how other cultures are in how they treat the LGBT. We are not handled the best right now but its a lot better than other places. I highly suggest talking or do research in how thee LGBT in treated in Japan and non-anglo countries. Do I dislike it as a conflict in plots? Yes but the same time I understand why. In Japan, being gay is still seen as a "foreigner thing" + the classic "we don't mind you being gay but we would rather not see it" which is still common in the USA.

I get why you hate it but a lot of countries are not at the same level of acceptance as the anglo countries

Kanefumi likely thought about what Asahi said about being nervous about his friends finding out and about what the other fuccbois at his school were talking about so he's going to break it off with him to let him "appear normal", but considering Asahi already came to his own conclusion to introduce him as his boyfriend to his friends he'll slap some sense into Kanefumi and everything will work out.

The "drama" will be that Kanefumi won't actually tell Asahi his real reasons for wanting to break up and Asahi will have to pry it out of him only for the misunderstanding to finally be fixed with the aforementioned introduction/meeting. The boys will be fine, Lesbian girl is fucked though. Best you can hope for her (if you can call it best) is for her to still be friends with her love interest by burying those feelings and denying herself and continuing the facade to not lose what little attachment she has. Unless the boyfriend oversteps his bounds and blabs (I don't think he's this much of an idiot) then her friend will likely never know.

Maybe she'll get a bitter sweet ending where she accepts that her first love won't ever reciprocate and she just moves on and hopefully finds someone else to pursue. Still shitty but not all growth comes in the form of sunshine and rainbows. If anything learning to deal with rejection and one sided affection earlier rather than later is probably better for becoming a more well rounded person but I also understand that is little solace to the person experiencing it for the first time and comes across as an empty platitude.
