I don't know, If it was me I would find it hard to restore relations after this whole situation. The guy behaved like a total moron and there is no guaranty he would not do something similar in the future "out of consideration". Author should have not done this in the first place - it ruined the whole story IMHO

At least author himself is aware of how shitty and stupid this situation is...
When you like someone you want the best for them, someone who has a low view of themselves will think that they aren't what's best ,and will believe, sometimes with reason, that others see them in a bad light.
It's easy to say "don't worry about how others look at you" when you're from a high caste, after all your surroundings are full of compliments and acceptance, someone without that validation will come to be more wary of how others think, after all their lives are at risk
The issue here isn't his worries, but the lack of communication

It's so overused because it's a comprehensible source of drama and we can't empathize with both sides
the whole "spineless mc thinks he's not good enough and tries to distance himself" thing feels so common that it was satisfying seeing him get bluntly told off like tha

Why not?

The guy just worries about the girls social standing, which is a valid issue.

The girl does not care about it, and just wants to spend time with him, and is mad he doesn't value their friendship as much as she does. (Even though he values HER enough, just not himself - in that relationship).

It is pretty easy to understand both sides. I find the execution here to be great. He communicated his worries, the girl got mad, and he got depressed because he got her mad.

Honestly, really great chapter.

It's weird that this happens AFTER he took her to a weekend date like a chad, but I hope he straighten things up with senpai soon.

Except it isn't. They've grown far too close for this arc to be feasible now. She's repeatedly told him that she is actively enjoying his company.

At a certain point, you're allowing yourself to be insecure as a self-defense mechanism. This is a self-centered train of thought. "My presence is so bad next to you that it must make you look bad," is such a terrible plot point when we have been given zero reason to justify this level of insecurity in him. He heard one snide comment from a nobody and imploded.

He didn't communicate shit until literally pinned to a wall. I get that he's a high schooler, but I'm so sick of reading this trope.

He's literally a regular guy. This entire arc is unfounded based on the character interactions thus far. It just gets written in for those of us that can empathize with being an outcast during high school, even though it makes no sense here.

I agree that how he acted was really shitty, but its very clear he's trying to be considerate but struggles to communicate. He's been made aware of the issue and recognizes that the main issue in all this is his lack of communication

Also when anyone fucks up, there's never a guarantee they won't do the same thing again later unless its made physically impossible for them to do so. For literally any case, you just have to trust that they'll improve in the future or not

I'll be the first to mention it, but I love that the MC and his sister are musicians, like in this chapter the MC is channeling his sadness by playing only with Diminished chords, which are not easy for beginners in guitar (plus he's doing it laying in bed)

Also his sister asking him for a effect pedal with that confidence was cherry on the top.

I'm craving for seeing this more in further chapters, like if their parents were musicians or how the MC learned guitar

Agreed. Everyone sucks here, if you ask me... but then again these are high school maturity kids with a high school maturity understanding of communication.. and there wouldn't be much of a story to tell if someone as blunt and bitchy as Haimiya-senpai were an excellent communicator lol.

She says "You just say things like that without considering how I feel," just after completely and utterly ripping him apart... Like, huh? Communication is a two-way street, girlie. Yeah, we know you're mad, but if he didn't have a sister to levelheadedly lay it out for him along with MC plot armor, would the poor bloke have a chance of figuring it out on his own?

(At the end of the day I know this is a manga mainly for those with masochistic desires, so I'll just shut up since I'm here reading this shit too lmao)

The little sister is right but she s being a bitch about it, "u made something nice for me and it made me feel guilty so it s your fault" like what was he supposed to do, fuck off to the concert or tell his sister "hey this is your fault", hell nah he made the right decision for his sister just not the right one for the girl
well you could say that but anyone would think that you should tell them cause they are not strangers, they are family and hiding these things actually do make people sad, but of course you should say it in such a way that doesn't make people think you are implying that you are doing them a favour while you are

This is a uncommon instance where a manga teaches a good lesson. I think even I fall into the mistake of imposing my subjective goodwill on someone without considering their feeings. Or I’d put someone else over my desires. Sometimes these things aren’t bad but communication is key to avoid stressing a situation more than necessary. Re:Zero taught a very similar lesson during Arc 4 when Subaru kept trying to do what was right for Emilia without ever considering how she would feel about him constantly sacrificing himself just for her.

If something as dumb as this seriously makes you cut contact with someone, id suggest therapy. That’s some crippling emotional issues
