Yeah, this is par for the course for this misoginistic author. It would be tolerable if characters at least behaved realistically.

If someone tried enslaving you, selling you to a brothel, then tried killing you... you would NOT let them go with "oops I'm sorry". And with this author and women -- slavery, abuse, etc -- it cuts only one way, depending on gender. Male can be incompetent, indecisive, ineffectual; women are used as doormats for their progression.

Every, single, one of author's series, without exception. Drop this while you can.
