Yup, rent a girlfriend is practically a trash too. I think the author is just milking it at this point, the main objective is no longer the story but how to make this series run as long as possible. It just keep on dragging, telework yonabanashi and sweat and soap is more right to my Alley. It's not that long, and one of them considered as smutt, but damn the depiction of relationship and it's problem between the characters feels so real and they handle it like an adult. It depicts the relationship between adults and their problem, and show us how to handle the problem correctly instead of just keep draggin on misunderstanding over misunderstanding to keep the drama going on.

By "pathetic" I meant those bottom feeder trash as in most shounen rom-coms. For shoujo manga, it's always "the most hottest/smartest guy in the school" as the ML unless it's one of those who has to be practically baby-sitted by the FL. Although they scream of red flag pretty often and act like maniacs.
