According to the Oxford Dictionary ceasefire was first used around 1844 though in the literal meaning of ceasing the firing of muskets on the battlefield. The meaning of truce is from 1918.

So the better word would be truce (which is from around 1225) or later armistice especially for a short truce (from 1677).
