I can totally sympathize with these terrorists. How many lousy endings exist to great series?
Yes, Seinfeld. I'm looking at you.

I know Loid wants to remain in the shadows but, on the other hand, I wonder if he will at least consider the benefits of somehow pulling a kiss on live tv with Yor. Surely it would make it so no one would ever question themselves if the Forgers are a normal loving couple. On the flip side it would spell disaster for Operation Strix if Yor runs away or punches him on broadcast instead of kissing him.

They say they don't want to antagonize the government, but by revealing that the show's ending was changed due to governmental pressure, I believe they did exactly that. 🤷‍♂️

While it was the Minister of Broadcast that put pressure on them to change it, technically it was more so a personal favor for the "fan" of the actor (which is heavily implied to be the opera singer who was speculated to be having an affair with the Minister of Broadcasting as per Loid's comments in Chapter 128).

So it's less about the government manipulating the media and more about one particular government official abusing his authority to satisfy his mistress. I feel like the government at large would probably be fine with that being exposed since they could punish him and get some good PR from the masses while installing a better lacky.

That's a fair point, though I'd say it depends on the government in question. Some balk at the possibility of one of their officials being exposed as corrupt (even if corruption runs rampant otherwise), seeing it as a weakness that can be exploited by their opponents.
