That entire chapter went much more peacefully than expected. It's nice to see Kurumi and Naoi back together. And the symbolism was nice when they exited the woods together. Though Naoi is taking her time to decide if she really wants to accept Kurumi's confession. I see some potential issues with that, especially since chapter 21 brought Kimura into the main story. She was the girl that seemed to develop a crush on Naoi in the chapter 5.5 leaflet.

If Naoi's attitude becomes more optimistic from here, I could see her trying to get along with her classmates more, and maybe her and Kimura start talking, since Naoi's been shown to like reading books, and Kimura is a member of the library committee. Also, looks like the school festival prep is still ongoing, and Kurumi wants Naoi to take part in it, which would further allow Naoi to bond with their class. So, there's a potential misunderstanding waiting to happen if Kimura mistakenly thinks that Naoi likes her.

Mine's back at school, but it looked like their classmates would rather drop the whole subject of what happened with the teacher. But with her actually coming back to class against their expectations, they might not react to her well, considering they think that her having the video was suspicious in the first place. Though this is likely part of Mine's plan. To turn herself into the victim, so that Isanuma sides with her against the rest of the class.

As for Kudou, I wonder if her behavior will change in class after what happened with Naoi in the forest, or if she'll take some time off school due to this. Kudou was the one leading the festival prep, so without her around, Isanuma and Kurumi will likely have to step up to fill that role now. Though I see some issues, since Kudou was the one who smoothed things over with the class the first time for both of them. Now, if they get on someone's nerves, they're on their own.

Volume 1 showed that Kurumi's usual method is to do everything herself, while not trusting anyone else to do the work. Naoi even called her out on this in volume 3 when they trashed the hotel room. So, I could see Kurumi falling back into her controlling/overworking tendencies, especially if she wants to make the festival special for Naoi.

Only 1 chapter left in this volume, so let's see how it plays out. Can't wait for next month.

Naoi ditching work to come to Kurumi's aid kinda says it all. I was initially surprised that Kudou didn't put up more of a fight, but I think Naoi's words--and I do mean words, because for once it wasn't her fists--hit hardest and in the least-expected way.
Kudou had built up this image of an apathetic, violent, reclusive Naoi, and let that define their entire relationship via her own past trauma of being excluded and ignored. Changing herself into a social butterfly with the rest of the class might have given her actual meaning and fulfillment, if only it weren't for all the blame she puts on Naoi for "turning out the way she has".
And that's kind of tragic. Remove Naoi and Kudou's obsession with her from the equation, and it seems like she should have had everything she wants--friends, recognition, attention. But Naoi remained a fixed point for her, and she held them both in place, denying either the chance to grow past the issues and troubles they had before.

Kurumi coming in saves Naoi, and in a twist of fate, probably Kudou as well. She was left alone in the woods, crying and mourning for what she probably thinks is a return to who she was.

But the moment she comes back to class...well, they all still know her for the face she wore around them. They might still very well accept her with open arms, should she return to school; and I wonder if that will be Kudou's "finale": she retains her friendships and reputation that she'd crafted, but loses Naoi - and with Naoi, that abusive & traumatic link to her past self.

With Mine returning against all expectations, I imagine the final chapter will see Isanuma confronting her, and Mine playing the victim for the rest of the classroom. Mine might have done all of this for Isanuma; there's every reason to believe she's fixated on her friend, and like Kudou with Naoi, is seeking to "isolate" her to a degree, making Isuname dependent on her, and forging their relationship on her own controlling terms.
Mine being quiet and calculating as she is, I do wonder if we'll get a similar exposition in the next volume as we did with Kudou; we know that Kudou was outcast, and then abused by Naoi--and that's how she became who she is. So Mine might get a similar situation, in the sense that her past informs why she is the way she is now, rather than "she's just quirky like that". Everyone seems to have reasons for their characterization and behavior thus far, so no reason to believe that won't continue with Mine.

I kinda expect Naoi's "debut" will be next volume as well, alongside Mine & Isanuma's story. They'll likely intertwine, and with the Naoi and Kurumi on nominal good terms again, I think their relationship will start to expand and grow--even if Naoi is hesitating on answering Kurumi's confession, they'll be spending more time together now, and likely in a less-unhealthy fashion than before.
With Kimura the Library Girl showing up, though--it's prime time for some rivalry/hurt feelings & good ol' fashioned Yuri Triangles. Naoi not responding yet to Kurumi means the door's open for uncertain feelings and misunderstandings, and with how violent this series is in general, that means the misunderstands will be less "haha" and more "uh oh".

The festival is in full-swing, Naoi is redeemed, Mine is lurking below the surface of Isanuma's social strife in the wake of the teacher's antics, Kurumi might be getting back to the forefront of the class and her old responsibilities, and the characters will all converge again with new dynamics and new problems on the horizon.

And, hopefully, some actually nice and loving moments between our Main Two.

Can't wait for next month. Thanks for the TL.

Something I've been wondering about. The teacher covered up both the class photo and Isanuma's carved up desk. But the female teacher said they'd be investigating Horie's misconduct, so Kurumi might actually get in some trouble here. Horie did try to tell Kurumi that pinning the blame on Naoi benefitted her too, and while he was saying that to save himself, he was also likely right. Though I have no idea what punishment she'd get for those incidents.

Even if they know or suspect Naoi was also involved with those things, it's hard to punish her for them when she was just unjustly suspended after being framed for something she didn't do. So Naoi might actually get away with no further punishment for the volume 1 stunts.

That's very true - I said something last chapter about Kurumi and Naoi" trading places" in the narrative, with Naoi on the come-up and getting more positive(ish) attention from her peers, and Kurumi having to deal with Naoi getting that attention and having less of Naoi all to herself.

But the academic side of things is also in play--Kurumi is still under her mother's thumb to a degree with the expectations of her performance in school, and there's all the incidents that Kurumi had a direct hand in, or did herself, that could come back into the light with Horie's departure.
She might get some leeway, given her track record and how she'd carried herself before--but with this new teacher being a "blank slate" with none of the knowledge of how the class was before, Kurumi might actually sink down, punished for those things that the previous teacher covered up, and seeing her reputation taking a hit overall.
And that would be an interesting dynamic--because it would mean Naoi, who's finally "out of the woods" in a big way, will see her romance interest and friend potentially getting ostracized instead. So does she go out of her way to help Kurumi? Or does she get swept up in what could be newfound popularity arc?
Because as you said - punishing Naoi for this, after she's been effectively smear-campaign'd by the previous teacher, might seem like bad optics. Why are you restarting the persecution of a student who was systemically bullied, as the brand new teacher? Giving her grace seems like the play being telegraphed, here, in the hopes that it doesn't cause her to slip again.

Add in Kimura showing up and getting involved, and things get really messy for the two of them. I suspect that Isanuma and Mine will factor in as well - both are tied to Horie-sensei, who was tied to Naoi and Kurumi, and all of them are part of the ongoing fiasco with the Festival preparations, whether blamed or actually responsible.

So in effect - this might be a flipflopping of Kurumi and Naoi's relative position in the narrative going into next volume. Naoi's stocks go up, Kurumi's trend down, both struggle to figure out their new relationship, and a Rival gets thrown into the mix while the imending disaster that is Mine & Isanuma festers.

Super disappointing behavior by Kurumi and Naoi. All Kudou wants to do is manipulate and immiserate everyone around her for the sake of fulfilling her masochistic desire to be dominated and brutalized by a hard-hearted, rebellious delinquent and they're treating her like she's some sort of villain.

I am smh-ing my head harder than I have ever smh-ed it before. Be better, girls.

The rumor going around that Kurumi was also romantically involved with Horie doesn't help matters. As it would likely now seem much more believable. To an outside observer, it would look like Horie had flings with some of the girls in class and pinned all of their misbehavior on Naoi.

This could make the new teacher view Kurumi in a very negative light. That she's someone just like Horie. Puts on a nice facade, but is a scumbag beneath it.

This was one fine conclusion (for now) to relations between Naoi, Kurumi and Kudou. Hopefully Kudou being rejected like that by the other two will move her into proper direction and she can get a stable life for herself while losing the trauma inducing relationship she had before. Who knows, maybe in the future she will be the one to help the main cast in resolving some issue.

What interests me now is Mine and how will things turn out with the rest of the class after everything that has happened so far. I can smell the drama from miles and cannot wait to see it.

WHile mostly I do like the development and moving forward, it just seems to all be moving a bit fast and I'm a little worried, what with basically every other yuri I've been reading getting cancelled these last couple of months. Hopefully it doesn't rush out the rest of the ending and we get a little bit more time, still. Especially if the teacher "looking into things" gets us a lot more drama on Kurumi's side of things and Naoi has to solve things a little more.

Also I'm kinda hoping that we get to see Kurumi's mom back to actually tie that up, rather than leaving it as a bit of a vague "she's left to live with grandma and left Kurumi alone"

She finally got whats coming holy heck. I audibly laughed at that crying panel. It seriously serves her right, though I wish she suffered some kind of repercussion for literally trying to rape our MC.... Like hello?? Good riddance shes finally cut off
